Have you thought about Fife (furryboots)? Crail is a great with Balcomie and Craighead

I have to say Crail was one the most disappointing courses I’ve ever played.

Depends what you want and how much you want to spend. Many years ago I took five English friends (3 blokes, two lassies and all golfers) to Perthshire for a bit of 'local' golf in the beautiful scenic countryside of that county that I know well. We played Dunkeld & Birnam, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl, Comrie, Taymouth Castle and Rosemount. Now only Rosemount amongst that lot is high on a 'to-play' list but my friends just loved the courses. One couple recently took their two teenage golfing lads and revisited some of these courses and also played Carnoustie and Gleneagles for additional fun.

I thought Craighead was far better than Balcomie, and was surprised Balcomie was not a better course.

Yep, i agree.

I though Balcomie was a bit of a field in parts, i wouldn't rush back to play either TBH
