Does anyone else here suffer with it, I think I have it pretty bad. Take today as a perfect example. Ive Got to be up at 6:30, to be showered and left for 7:00. Didn't go to bed until 12:30am, but so far I've been up at 3am, 3:45, 4:30 and now 5:50, this isn't uncommon on days that I'm playing on but today seems the worst it's been yet.

Help me.....

I used to be really bad for this and would wake up several times a night checking to see if it was time to play golf. I found it was when I wasn't playing so often as it's not as bad now I play regularly.

So I guess the cure I can offer is to play more golf :D

I had this after an occasion where i'd slept in and missed my weekly game, as a result of a couple of beers too many one evening.

I now set Three alarms, so it is nigh on impossible to sleep through them. If I have to be out of bed and in the shower by 6:30, I set the first one for 6:20, second for 6:25 and final alarm for 6:30 - that stops the sub-conscious worry about missing your alarm, because that's all it is.

If it's just through sheer excitement of playing golf, then i'm not sure what to suggest.

Sometimes and especially before big rounds. A couple of years ago the night before a guys day out to the Warwickshire I just couldn't get to sleep, eventually nodded off at 0400 for the alarm to go off at 0515!! Down to Warwick and play 36 holes!! I was knackered when I got home.

I certainly get excited in summer about playing a great venue in nice weather etc etc but in winter I'll prob not hit bed till 1.30am then up at 7am to look thru the rain splattered window and listen to the howling winds.

Roll on spring/summer

if i've got a bit comp i usually struggle to get to sleep, when i am finally asleep i sleep ok and don't get up but it's just a pain trying to get to sleep.

When I was younger I use to suffer a lot with pre-match nerves (not just at golf) and so would have to deal with a normal side effect of nerves (use your imagination) and that meant getting up earlier or getting to the venue in plenty of time.

Now I just play golf, accept that I may play well, probably won't, and get on with it. I am pretty good at getting up in the morning anyway so it doesn't worry me what time I tee off. Bit annoying like today though when you have a game planned and your partner pulls out. Couldn't be asked to wander out on my own or loiter fro a game so doing some odd jobs and might hit the range later

Nightshift Monday night, finished at 0630, home and in bed for 0700, alarm set and up at 0930 to golf with Bunkers and Scott1505 plus Gordon yesterday.

Got mugged 3&2 but had a great time, lunch and back into work for 1800 last night. Hardcore!

1) good to see I'm not alone here, I think last night was bad as I'd been looking forward to playing this course so it made it worse

2) homer, thinking about how you deal with nerves to tire yourself our is the last thing I want to use my imagination for

3) craw... You are the man

Im the same, wake up several times in the night before a game, also if I am going fishing.

I havnt found a cure yet, i think its just the little boy inside me

I used to wake up at 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30 then up at 7 for an 8am tee off. Switched to afternoon tee times - problem sorted.

I usually have 2 sleepless nights, the night before and then the night after when, although physically tired, I seem be be mentally replaying all my decent shots again.

Replaying my decent shots wouldnt take very long even if it was repeated.

Always sleep like a log the night after a round or fishing. combo of lack of sleep the night before, and the other side of the adrenalline rush.
