Golf in norwhich

There are a few decent courses around, as you may have noticed i've been playing all (most) of the local courses recently to see which id like to join. Weston Park (JammyDodgers track) stands out as the best layout, I played there last weekend on a green fee, their winter deal is £23.50 with a cuppa and a bacon roll. Absolute bargain so im playing again this Sunday.
If Weston is too far out of Norwich (9 miles) then Royal Norwich, Costessey Park, Bawburgh (Glen Lodge), and Eaton (£40+ greenfee) are all good courses. Just avoid Wensum valley.

It will probs take you nearly 5 hours to get round Barnham broom though , nice course as it is.

Cant help you out though Mono as i'm working saturday and playing a comp on sunday

If you can travel a little further then either Kings Lynn or Thetford would be good choices too

If I were up that way again I'd definitely make the trip to Hunstanton. One of the best links courses I've ever played. Don't know how far it is from Norwich, but yes.....I'd definitely try to get there.
Barnham Broom???? Personally can't stand the place but each to his own.... :( :( :(

Hi.
I live just outside Norwich and have played all the local courses.
Weston Park - quite long but generally in very good condition except in winter when it gets very boggy
Costessey Park - Tightish course but several interesting holes. greens are usually in good nick
Eaton Park - Again a fair test and fairly flat. Greens excellent
Bawburgh - just had 2 new holes and the whole course route changed. A great course and good greens - you could probably get to play for about £20
Royal Norwich - Fairly long track with some very interesting holes. Main drawback is you have to cross a very busy road twice!
Dunston Hall - had problems with the greens last year but they are now fine. a tight track where accuracy is paramount - every hole is different!
Sprowston Manor - too samey - up one side then down another - too many similar holes.
Barnham Broom - would not agree with the earlier comment. The Valley course is a good challenge and usually in exceptional condition. It's very interesting and never boring.
Wensum Valley - have not played this for 2 years but would concur with the previous comment in that it's a bit rough & ready and not somewhere I would re-visit.
Thetford - always in good condition, perfect greens and superb forrest setting. Probably my favourite but all of the others are worth playing apart from Wensum.
Have a look on teetimes.uk to see if you can get a deal.

Hope this helps

If you want to travel to the coast then try Sheringham or Cromer , both excellent courses.

Cromer is very nice. Lovely lighthouse hole.
Fooking windy though

Possibly my favourite hole anywhere. Normally play Cromer on/around New years day with the society. Cobweb free zone after that.
Swaffhams worth a trip
