Hi,

Played 2 days ago on my home course and had the best round of my life, shot 86, still came off a little down as after the first nine I was at 41 , back nine 45, driving really well , putting spot on , rescue spot on, irons were complete and utter arse, however still happy with the score.

Played today apart from my driving everything else was crap, ended up with a 105 , how can it be so different in only a matter of days?

Still love the game but can never string a run of games with decent scores together. Anyone else have this issue.

Cheers

Are you still using that tip I gave you? Its only been a few weeks so I'd be patient and let it sink in and remember the positives :D

As you improve so will your consistency.
Patience and practice. :)

Hi Bob,

yes still using that tip and it has worked wonders, my driving has come on leaps and bounds, have no idea why other parts seem to have got worse, I think I may have a lesson in regards to my swing , just as a conf booster .

What do you think ?

Cheers

I think that's a brilliant idea.
Good luck with it :)

Tell me about it. When I first picked up some clubs again a couple of years back I was very consistent, but had a tendency to slice. Wasn't hitting far, but I generally knew where my shots were going to go.

G/f kindly bought me some lessons and ever since I've been very erratic, slicing one minute, hooking the next. Sometimes things seem to come together, and when I put in the last two cards for my handicap I shot 15-over then 14-over, getting my handicap of 16. Since then I struggle to get under 20-over, often 30-over or so! One minute I can hit a blinder 180-yard 5-iron dead straight onto the green, the next minute I duff a 70-yard SW and still take 4 or 5 more shots to get down.

But yes, it's a fun game, now I've stopped taking it too seriously. ;)

Looking forward to getting the hybrid tomorrow. First hybrid I bought was a cheap £19.99 job, and found it the hardest club to hit, like, *ever*! Hopefully this one will be better. :)

I think you have to accept that our level no two days will be the same. It's frustrating but thats part of the appeal. My advice is remember the good shots from your better round and forget the bad ones today. I guess if you are hitting poor shots regularly though a lesson may be a good idea just to get a professional view on what's happening

Come on Bob, I love a good tip. Please tell me the tip as my driving is in free fall !!!!

Im going through exactly the same thing!I usually score low 90's and my best score on my own course is 91,although ive shot an 87 on a course ive only played twice and i think is a tougher track! But at the moment im shooting high 90's even 100 or 105! its annoying the hell out of me but i've got it in my head that it cant get any worse!! :D

Midnight, I think we all do!
Believe if you want to more consistant getting to grips with the short game is the answer.
If you shot 105 driving well it must be your short game thats letting you down.
Try analizing where your wasting shots.

i have 2 hybrids and i still cant fathom them out......its all in the mind i think.
I know i should hit ike a mid iron but my eyes think i should be hiting like a driver, and thats where it all goes wrong.
Then when i do get one right it sails so sweetly down the middle, or then again sometimes ever so sweetly straight off to teh left, no draw, no hook straight off left.

i hate the game - this week

Bummer but that is the game. Keep focused on what you are doing well. I had a crap one at the weekend in a 4BBB but still played plenty good shots. Just a pity about the 7 or 8 crap ones that killed me.

Probably bit golfed out TBH so had a couple days off now and back to it today.
