Hi Everyone,

My best friend is due to get married on Saturday but his family are all coming down a couple of days beforehand and he wants to get them all out for a round on the Friday. They are a big golfing family(in terms of passion for golf not size!) ranging from 10 handicap up to about 23. Problem is he is struggling to find somewhere close to the wedding venue for them to play at a reasonable price. The venue is at a hotel called Grovefield House in Burnham near Windsor/Slough. He doesn't want to have to travel to far from the hotel where they are staying, nor be too out of pocket. He had looked at Burnham Beeches but its £60 a green fee and he feels a bit bad asking them to pay that on top of the cost of them coming to the wedding and the hotel etc. Is there anywhere half decent in the general vicinity of the hotel in the £25-30 price range that you guys could recommend? It's supposed to be the best day of his life and I am trying to take some of the stress out of the week for him by finding somewhere.

thanks

get in touch with Dan Hawkins at Badgemore Park in Henley on Thames. I'm sure that he'll look after you. It will be around 30 minutes to get there from Burnham

Is it too far up the M40 to Thame? I get lots of emails about special offers at the Oxfordshire, especially midweek.

Thame is probably a bit far. They are all travelling a fair distance to get there already. I think he is just trying to get them out and meeting a couple of us pre wedding. Will check out badgemoor and wexham! thanks.

Richings Park is near Slough and at least wasn't expensive when I was looking at memberships, no idea of green fees though. Maidenhead GC is right near Burnham as well and a nice course.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations I will pass them on to my friend see which one he likes the look of...I might steer him towards Maidenhead though Homer, I'd not heard of it before, but it looks like a nice track and I'd like to play it before the bin it off!!
