Picture this.
Rory, Poults, Darren, Lee or anyone really, standing in the fairway, chatting to their caddy. Discussing what club to hit and how and why.
Microphones everywhere and what happens??
The studio turn down the course mics and the expert panel start waffling on non stop about Poults trousers or how many pairs of socks "The Colonel" has.
Firstly, we dont care about your flippin socks.
Secondly, your job is to comment, not non stop blethering
Thirdly, whats the point of having mics so close to the players if you dont let us listen to what they are saying.
Shut up and let us listen

Sorry, rant over :)

I agree that it's frustrating when you start to hear a snippet of the player/caddie relationship going through the shot and then they cut the sound or back into the studio. "What do you think is going through his head?" Well if you went back and listened we'd know

That said I do like some of the guys. I like Roe and in particular I could listen to Radar all day. Ken Brown is great and I actually like Ewan Murray. Alliss is getting towards the end sadly but no real replacement jumps out. Why do the BBC seem to let their top commentators in all sports go on and then not have anyone to replace them

It would be good to hear, are they worried about a couple of naughty words going out live??

By the way, WTF did Mark Roe have on last night?? He looked like Dirk Diggler straight out of Boogie Nights.

Also for someone who goes on about how much he wants variety of chipping to be part of the game again, why is his hair cut like a US Open green?? Dead grass in the middle with long rough round the edges, someone tell him that when your centre parting gets that wide you need to cut it all off!! :D

Thats uncanny Robobum , I said exactly the same thing to HID last night and she agreed. We even did a joint rendition of some 70's guitar porn music :D

No lack of excitement in our house I can tell you :D

Just a wee aside about Alliss.

He was on Wogan's show on radio 2 yesterday and I stopped in the car and listened to the whole interview. I find him great value and still hugely entertaining.

Loved the fact that, when asked his age, he said he was "8 over par".

:p

I remember not that long ago they 'played' a whole conversation between Big Phil and Bones on the tee of a Par3. Was great watching/ listening and gave a proper insight to what pro's consider & think about and what the role of the caddy is.

I like Roe, Rob Lee and even Richard Boxall, but I can live without Hawksworth, Radar and John Morgan, who looks slightly surprised to even be on TV. Not as surprised as I was to see him.

David Howell comes over well, we won't get to see him too much as he should be out playing but he knows his stuff and always looks incredibly smart. Mark roe needs the Gok Wan treatment, someone call the fashion police.

To me Peter Alliss is absolutely and totally irreplaceable no one in the current line up comes close to him, an absolute legend.

That said I do like Faldo, Brown and Hazel Irvine

I like most of the people who work on Sky and the BBC (but not John E Morgan or "The boy Lineacre"). I think David Howell is a great addition to Sky but hopefully only temporary as his form returns. I think Tony Johnstone tells it like it is and using Butch Harmon on the majors and WGC's etc was an inspired descision.
What I don't like is the coverage of the USPGA tour using the american TV teams, just complete drivel for 10 mins before seeing a couple of shots, then back to the studio for more drivel. I have quickly got the point where I cannot watch the US tour coverage. Am I the only one who misses Golf Night, Sky should've saved their money!!
