Myself and the lads I play golf with are currently looking for a new golf club to join after playing at Newcastle United Golf Club for quite a while not to say we thought the course or club in general was bad we are just looking for something new.

Any idea's for us?

Cheers

What side of newcastle are you based, how much travelling time are you looking at or does it not matter? Decent courses all in directions, Hexham etc North, South Shields and others on the coast, south towards Sundrland you've got Wearside etc

I joined Arcot Hall at Cramlington a few months ago. Nice course and generally pretty quiet compared to some of the others I have played in the area.

I've only been playing since last May, have played at the following

Parklands - started off here, not a bad course, but does get very busy
Centurion Park - total dump, the fairways are like light rough. Avoid at all costs
Gosforth (aka The Bridlepath) - nice course, better than Parklands. Only played it in the winter so can't comment on how busy it gets. Had 13 out of 18 proper greens on during that period of heavy rain before Xmas which was good.
Tynemouth - played it last week, really enjoyed it. Some quirky holes. No temp greens at all.

Two of us live in the West end of the city and other lad lives in Heaton but we all drive so we don't mind on having to travel(just not miles and miles) We have thought about Arcot Hall to be fair and also Gosforth but some of us have played one and not the other. Going to have to play around a few places and see what we enjoy!

Plenty choice for you really then......just depends on your needs, and what you're looking for from a club, or its course

Gosforth -- bridle path, is a nice course, not too taxing, and they've done plenty work lately on their greens. They also do a flexi membership, if that might suit any of you, think £150 plus £10 per game.

Plenty others close by too, in no particular order....
Arcot hall
Parklands
City of Newcastle
Westerhope
Ponteland
Bedlington
Blyth
Tyneside
Ryton

Even more choice if prepared to travel up to 1/2 hour drive

Purely based on location I'd go with parklands. Good range, decent price and easy for all of you to get too.

I was a lot more impressed with Gosforth (Bridlepath) than Parklands. They are only about a mile apart, so location-wise nothing to choose between them. I played Parklands a lot during the summer and it was always very busy. The Bridlepath is a nicer course imo, Parklands has a really boring stretch of holes around the turn.
