Has anyone got one of these?
Seeing the latest GM competitions I thought I'd have a look at them. I've read a lot of website text and it seems that they're not bad at all. The big thing is that the unit holds 20,000 courses and there are no yearly subs or download charges. The course list does seem quite extensive - hey if they've got my old course then they've probably got yours. The screen view is similar to the SC format with a shape of the green and distances to front, middle and back of the green.
There seems to be some confusion as to how they map courses. It seems they use aeriel photographs initially and then walk the courses after that to confirm. Quite why they don't just walk it to start with i'm not sure!
But the readings seem to be as accurate as SC/Sonocaddie etc etc. Cost seems to be between £300 and £350 which plants it firmly in the high end section but that's all your cost.

As I said I was wondering if anyone has one or has tried one and if so is it as good as the market leaders?

oh right lol :D mustnt have joined the forum when that took plaace - whats there to fight about over Golf gps anyway lol - ok maybe i shouldnt say that either :D

It's also the one I'm keenest on but they seem a bit slow in coming out over here. Tempted to get one from the US as it will only be about £230 that way.

Had a play with one in Florida, and was quite impressed. Not seen one for sale over here yet, but my Dad has been looking to buy one when they are available. If I didn't have a SC this is th on I would buy now.

I have been seriously considering GPS and the idea of having loads of courses pre-loaded, no membership fee etc is tempting. From my point of view, this should be the way forward for GPS and not the approach of having to pay every year for the courses that you have already downloaded.
