Picked Willett at 25's in play first round Dubai and now trading at 7/5 as fav going into the last round

Good call!

All mine finished a shot or two from placing, 3 fellas who placed Ive bet on last two weeks and didn't this - oh well always next weekend!

You spend a couple of hours on Wednesday studying recent form, a players past history in the competition etc., decide on which player to back for a top 20 finish, wake up at 4.30am on Thursday to watch the golf and your pick opens up with a double.

Luckily he went another 59 holes before he dropped his next and only other shot of the tournament to finish joint second so Sullivan did the business for me.

Potentially good shout on Phelan, I got him at similar price which seemed very high considering how well he did here last time.

Porteus, Rumford and Blauww were my other selections, all but the first look like poor choices! He had a crazy round, started with 4 pars and birdie and a par, then 4 bogeys in a row - ouch, birdie, par - double bogey!

He was 4 over with 5 to play and birdied 4 of them to get back to level. The boy can play but he needs to cut out the madness.

In the states I've gone small money on

Castro
Harrigton
Perez

all at stupidly high odds. A few doubles involving lower odds players like Lowry, Holmes, Sneds paired with Rumford, Porteus and Blauww.

Phelan started well both days and has managed to give them all back.

Brighter starts for Cameron Smith and Castro for us both. Perez n Paddy not doing bad either. All my others played like the bloody AM partner yesterday in ogilvy Guthrie and Garrigus

Yep, he does like them doubles! Had a small return on Castro 1st round leader. Serious rounds out of Justin and JB at Spyglass. A lot of golf to be played though, these 3 course then cut difficult to call.

Cheers D, have him in a first round leader double with Levy who placed earlier. DJ 22/1, levy 100/1. The place would be tidy. But I also lumped on DJ to win (1st round) very uncharacteristic for me. He's -2 after 7 with the leaders for the first half of the field on -5. Come on DJ

Didn't watch the end but Villegas had four birdies and a bogey in his last five holes. Three bogeys from DJ didn't help your quest for an extended break.

Just finished a decent run in a poker tournament... £20 freeze out, finished 3rd for £576 so have used some to place a few bets this week.

With regards geoff,Apart from his win couple seasons back in the barracuda, this was the tournament I had a return off him at 300s when he came second to Thompson so you never know..

Might have a little dabble this weekend. Had a pretty decent football and casino win on the weekend so got a hole burning in my pocket!

DJ 1st round let me down but KJ outright didn't at 125s so I have something to play with, I'm waiting for Levy to make a reappearance I reckon he's due. Grillo seems to be gaining momentum too. I've also gone for Geoff for the same reasons plus he's a guy who can turn it on and this is a thinkers course. Gone for an obvious double or two but waiting to see what round 1 reveals really, kept some powder dry...

It was online, around 350 entries...1st prize was over 3k but I can't complain. My KQ outdrew AK with 7 left so I shouldn't of even got to 3rd. But then with 3 left I was chip leader but called an all in with 88 against JJ and then lost the rest with AQ against 1010.

Get on the golf betting this week. 4 days worth of action providing they make the cut...

On Rickie outright and Fitzpatrick e/w. Great start for Fowler and Fitzpatrick played well apart from 2 bad holes in the middle of his round.

Well I was half right! Tidy place on Levy at 66s, so nearly a big win. Grillo tanked.

Kept my powder dry and got a nice place on Thomas so a nice few quid to play with for Doral but so hard to see where the value is. Usually seperates the big men from the boys, you'll get short odds on Rory (MC aside), DJ, Bubba, all the usual suspects many of whom will no doubt be in the mix Sunday.

Only angle I can see is if they offer a big price on rookies. Benny An might be worth a punt they way he hammers it, though is he WGC good yet? Might have said the same about Big Shane Lowry before his win. Then there's Sully, not afraid to mix it with the big boys. I'd put Danny Lee in the same boat but his last outting made me nervous. Not exactly a rookie (has had one go) but Koepka has the game for the place.

Other than that JB Holmes is the course/form horse and usually gets off to a good start so 1st round Leader (depending on his his tee time and group) and outright if the price is right.

I'll wait til PP offers 7 places before putting anything down, the odds might shorten slightly but with so many quality contenders a place will probably be all I'm hoping for on the newbies. Good luck to all those who have a go...

My betting money for the weekend went on the boxing instead... What a mistake, didn't even come close. Altho none of the guys I would have backed placed so it was always going to be a write off.

Not looked at this week's field yet but JB Holmes will be one selection.
