Following on from the success of last year's thread, thought i'd kick this off this week with both PGA and European Tour's starting back up again.

PGA - Hyundai Tournament of Champions

European - BMW SA Open

I've written a little preview of the PGA event and will continue to do so throughout the season - http://tinyurl.com/ztfu8mb

Let's hear your picks for this week, and good luck with your bets for 2016!

My picks this week.

Hyundai Champions US

Jimmy Walker @35/1 - He was leading this for 63 holes last year and choked after a play off with Reed. Another performance like that (without choking)I think he wins.

Chris Kirk @ 66/1 ew - He's got decent form round here and the change of clubs could help him.

BMW South Africa open

Lee Slattery @35/1 - he finished 3rd 1 shot behind the winners last year, I think he'll go close again and win it. I think the odds are a bit shy based on last year's performance.
Hennie Otto @ 55/1 ew - He played here last year and finished 13th, he's a South African and they tend to do well in this.

Robert Rock @ 70/1 ew - I like Rock, and I I back him most weeks.

Happy Punting

And we are off! And I have my first sweat of the season already.

Goya 1st round leader £1e/w @ 175/1.

Not sure if he will hold his place now the afternoon guys are out. I was so close to putting money on Van Zyl that when I looked at the leaderboard a minute ago I was delighted cos I thought I had!!! Crumbs.

Not a bad start, had Goya share the first round lead, with the winnings put a quid on Brooks to lead after round 2 (40/1) which he duly oblged, and had a Tournament Outright double with Sneds and Horne both placing. Could've been made even better if Padraig placed, was looking good for a good while, can't believe they were offering him at 125/1 before the start - there were only 32 guys in the field?!

That's my stake for the rest of January sorted. I find it hard to believe they won't be offering any big tournament without a "Betting without Speith" option for a while. Guys a machine.

Well done Curls

you certainly have your fair share of winners - superstition or not, i just wish you'd put them up prior to the tourney! We all need to cash in on these selections lol!

I had Reed win outright but when i knew he couldn't catch Jordan, i backed him in the without market on Sunday morning. Kept me entertained Sunday evening until i fell asleep at about 1am and had a nice return when i awoke on the sofa at 4am!!

Nice one, just singing Reeds praises on another thread this morning, well backed.

Great value to be had in Joburg, lots of guys at long odds that have a good chance (doesn't everyone in a field like that?!) so small money in a few places.

The Sony is more cut and dried but there's one course horse I noticed at long odds so I've got Jerry Kelly at 80/1. Watch him die on the first tee now, and it'll be all your fault Big D

:)

A disappointing end to a weekend that promised so much. I had a quid on Daniel Im (90/1) and Jacques Blaauw (150/1) place in Joburg and they were in each way doubles with Kuch and Howell III. Neither delivered, and Jerry Kelly fell just short. I had Sneds (came 2nd) paired with Sterne, who also was a couple of shots off a place. I'll get it right one of these weekends!

When I switched on the leaderboard Sunday morning Kuch had just shot -8 to put himself in the mix and Im was joint leading. I was counting my £2k from a £2 bet. lol.

Rory and Jordan next weekend. Maybe I'll look at the betting w/o market ;)

Gents, don't forget the European tour starts Wednesday this week.

I've backed these in Qatar, I'll pick my us golfers tomorrow.

Wiesberger
Rock
Cabrera- bello

Happy punting.

I had a disaster of a weekend so don't listen to me! Had Pieters and Haas in a double but Haas fell one shot short. Would've been a nice return.

I've a few obvious doubles on (the good guys are very short odds on their own) but the one I did see at great value was Shane Lowry at 50/1 for the farmers....

Ive just gone for big prices in both this week and somehow hit a place at least.

European Tour
Fleetwood 125s
Levy 125s
Bourdy 125s

Pga Tour
Hunter Mahan 80s
Cameron Tringale 80s
Keegan Bradley 100s
Morgan Hoffmann 150s
Geoff Ogilvy 250s

Goodluck all

A good start for all 3 of my picks all within 3 shots of the leader, I'd take that Friday night!!

Happy enough with Bourdy and Tommy!

Tommy shot 5 under parring all the par 5s...and Gregory shot -5 in the slightly worse afternoon conditions...

Again- i'll take 2 players within 2 of the lead on Friday night!!
