Golf Betting 2016

Haven't really had much time to have a look at this week's events but like the look of Leishman (50/1) and Finau (80/1) in the Farmers Insurance.

Still only a couple behind the leaders for my picks, just hope they can kick on today or at worst stay 1 or 2 behind the leader.

I also backed Harris English ew in the farmers last night.

T4 and T6 for fleetwood and bourdy respectively

Would love one of them to go low tomorrow although i think it'll be another grind!

I'd settle for a place mind..

Gents, don't forget the European tour starts Wednesday this week.

I've backed these in Qatar, I'll pick my us golfers tomorrow.

Wiesberger
Rock
Cabrera- bello

Happy punting.

A double bogey 5 killed his chances, but a great finish.

Shame I didn't back him ew.

I have him in a double with Sneds but I don't fancy his chances.

Sneds is a weird type, he can turn in a 7 under but equally a 7 over without too much pressure.

Good luck

Well done Curls that an ew double landed??

It did, was delighted for Sneds it sounded like he played out of his shoes that day.

From my £1 e/w bet (£2 stake) had Cabrera-Bello gone one better and come first I would have been enjoying a win of about £950. As it was, £55. lol. Seems madness that a 1 - 2 can return such low odds. Still, with Pablo's share of the first round lead at 90/1 that was a tonne made off a £20 stake.

Question is, am I brave enough to post my predictions for next weekend?....

Well here it goes for a "one and done" - Bradley Dredge.

Yes he is in a higher class field than usual but he's got great course and current form, so makes no sense to me that he's 100/1, if he places he'll bring home far more than Rory, Henrik et al winning.

Wont see much golf on either tour this week due to work and a healthy social diary for once. So im gunna invest small on large odds and hope for the best

European tour

Hatton 100s
Bourdy 90s
Aphibarnrat 90s

PGA tour

K.Bradley 100s
M.Hoffmann 125s
Ogilvy 300s

You spend a couple of hours on Wednesday studying recent form, a players past history in the competition etc., decide on which player to back for a top 20 finish, wake up at 4.30am on Thursday to watch the golf and your pick opens up with a double. :o

Happens. Which is why I tend to put small money on a good few long odds guys cos someone (even a 10/1 shot) can always let you down. Ernie fell away and dredge is falling back, but I've an interest tomorrow cos Porteus is right in there. Those odds were 150, 100 and 175/1 (in the w/I Rory market), so all they have to do is place and they earn more than a 30/1 shot winning, which is really hard to predict.

Trouble is with a place you are usually only getting 5 places, 7 at best in the big tournaments and you are doubling your stake for E/W. I always used to be a place punter but since opening an online account I have preferred going for a top ten/twenty finish even though the odds are much shorter. The biggest downside in my opinion is that you do not get a cash out option for a top twenty bet.

Not a tactic I've ever considered, I guess of you got 20/1 on someone that'd be decent, guessing odds are shorter yeah? Interesting though will have a look next weekend...

Depends who you go for. The usual favourites like Rory are something like a 1/3 shot for a top twenty finish before a ball is struck so you wouldn't go near that with a barge pole. You are probably looking at odds of around 6's rather than 20's (at a guess) for someone who is about 80/1 to win it outright.

Gotcha, I bet to land a big win without staking a lot, will have a look on Monday, hopefully I'll have something to play with after Dubai and Pheonix wrap up ;)
