Well after a very decent driving round this morning from which i stumbled upon a few light bulb moments on the range yesterday.....
Im going the whole way on the S&T swing....

Iv heard that most seem to hit the irons and hybrids well with this swing and seem to really struggle with the driver and longer woods.....

Well it seems that its the complete opposite for me....
I have a very centred swing with my irons and woods and really struggled with hitting a driver of late....
I was getting contact all over the face, shots were spraying everywhere and basically i just had not confidence with the driver in my hand....

Yesterday i hit the range with just my driver and a bucket of balls to try and find something that would work...
As i said to James last night in a PM....
I tried everything from different grips to posture to stance, ball position, tee height the lot.

With 25 balls left i decided to try what the S&T boys advocate....
Ok i hit a few pushes and 1 or 2 hooks while i got comfy with the setup and my ball position.....I then began drawing the ball....About 5 or so yards right to left....
All the shots were solid hits even the pushed so i took it to the course this morning to great effect....Confidence is up and im liking what im seeing....

Im not sure why i find it easier.....
Maybe my lack of being able to shift my weight properly in a normal swing with a driver was causing all the issues i had....

Well since yesterday that has all changed....Thank God:rolleyes:

My driving has always been inconsistant, this hasn't changed with adopting the S&T Pattern.

My fairway woods are suffering at the minute but my track is short enough not to notice , but, being honest, I've neglected my long gain while working on my short game.

Well Gareth....To be fair i dont think that there is such a thing as a consistent driving game....
Even the pro's get that wrong at the best of times....
I hit driver in this mornings Medal round 8 times...On 4 par 4's and 4 par 5's.....
Out of that lot i hit 1 fairway but i ran just off on 6 of them and found an adjacent fairway with the other.

But the quality of the strike was far better....And i new that if i was offline with any of those holes bar 2 i was ok....

I know that there are a few little tweeks here and there to fully appreciate an S&T swing but im not a million miles away from it...
Im much more closer to that type of swing than a conventional swing if there is such a thing!

For me, the quality of the strike especially with irons, long and short, is fantastic.

Like I said my track isn't very long (only just over 5000 yards, par 66) but the course is very, very tight and even on the longest par 4's at our place it's long/mid iron off the tee as being wayward it punished pretty severely.

With that in mind, being able to hit 3 and 4 iron off the deck into greens helps quite alot

I've spoken with James about S&T and I've dabble a few times but the Plane Truth methodology works better for me. If it works for you and you can bed down the driver and fairway woods and can then go out an play with confidence in the swing then you'll (should) score better

Gonna give it a whirl anyway Homer.....I was connecting far better with the driver this morning...
I know i wont hit it perfect every time but on some of our par 4's taking it off the tee can mean the difference between hitting a 5 iron or an 9 iron into the green...

I seem to fair better keeping the weight forward with it....
I also had a chat with James and he reckons that with the swing i have it wouldnt take much to get me swinging fully S&T.....
Most of the ground work is there...
I have a very centred swing much like what your leaning....And to be honest its a more consistent swing for me....Seems like there is less to go pear shaped.
