Going back to photography and to the dark side (nikon)

Made a big mistake some years back selling my Pentax ME Super. It's shutter was sticking and wanted a new camera and I needed the money. I bought a Canon EOS1000FN. Mishtake. Pentax would still be worth something - a classic solid and brilliant wee SLR - the Canon - plastic and worth tuppence.

I use a couple of D300 Nikons as well as a D700 professionally. All superb cameras and, for me, it's the way they handle highlights which makes them special. I shot a wedding on a very bright day a few years ago with a mate tagging along with his Canon. There was a noticeable difference in the photos we took, with lots of blown highlights and lack of detail in the light colours on his. Even he admits that skin tones & highlights look better on the Nikon. I've stopped updating my cameras now. They do what I want and any improvement brought by the new models is only marginal.

Still using my Nikon D5100, although not so much these days. Got a family wedding to do next month so should really dust the cobwebs off.
Cut my teeth on a Pentax K1000 back in the day. Wish I hadn't sold it now.

Awful lot of Whitby and Nth Yorks Railway in there Craigg... nice shooting. I've got a D5000, which is great with the Nikon lens but the Tamron is poor glass.

Yes. It's a part of the world my wife and I both love. We are away up there again on Saturday for another week. Already been in contact with the golf club and negotiated a nice price for a weeks golf.

Sweet pics Craig. I followed you on Flickr. I'm the account with the Kingfisher for a profile pic :)

Here's my wildlife shots. Loved doing wildlife, it was such an amazing time just watching all the animals and learning about them.

Why thank you. Wildlife is tough. So much patience required, not to mention credit card popping lenses!
