Sad it had to come to this.

I must admit the mods do one hell of a job because I honestly had no idea this was going on, or I have had one glass of red to many and it just hasnt registered.

Lets hope common sense prevails.

Steve its a forum, folk get involved in the mood of the thread/post.

This is why the internet is good/bad and stuff said should be thought about, text is easily misinterpreted! If in a bad mood something tongue in cheek will either be laughed at or taken the wrong way and jumped on. if the next bloke is in a good mood then no harm done but if the next isnt... so on and so forth it spirals.

Seen it on many other forums and its not good. This place is awesome, lets not spoil it. Have a big love in and move on

All for it Gibbo i've been on here a long time now and saw many bust ups. This is another observation, but us Scots have a sense of humour all of our own the same as the Irish and and those from the North of England but those from the South of England don't seem to have the same humour or take things to serious.

Up here golf is a working mans game always has been thats why its relatively inexpensive ,so the humour is different ,down south its a middle class game with there expensive club fees for courses that are on the whole not the best and they don't get our humour and get upset about it .

My point is we have only one Scottish Mod in DCB who does a sterling job by modding in the background ,Big Brendy took a lot of stick but was in my opinion always honest and is a cracking fella to boot.

What i'm saying is sometimes it might look like its getting out of hand but if you understand the humour it might not be, recently i've noticed a decline in the number of Scots posting which is not good as we've cracking fellas up here who love there golf and enjoy the banter.

Long may it continue.

Love you.

Can I clear up one thing though which seems to have caused most of the issue on the orka thread.
Since the new forum software came in, the mod team lost a couple of extra abilities which we used previously. One of these was the functionality to edit profiles entirely, ie name change, avatar, sig editting etc.
When Alex posted yesterday and had unwittingly infringed tge advertising rule, phil got in touch with Alex to sort it but meanwhile he got lambasted for it when we had no power to change it ourselves.

Steve, I think we still need to take more care though as its not a regional scottish, English or Irish forum so the mods and GM must cater for all and if something an Irishman says that a scot or Englishman will take the wrong way then it has to be dealt with, not let it slide because its local humour

Not picking on the Irish, just trying to make a point

Kev i know what you are saying but a Scottish Mod might look at it differently and get the point rather than an English one ,just a example.

Of topic, saw you play at Stocksfield played there about 6 years ago and thourghly enjoyed it the big guy behind the bar was spot and the food was cracking .

Mods get him because he's gone off topic....only kidding :D

I also received an infraction this week, entirely justified for a clear breach of the rules (bad word). I was arguing in a thread which I felt should have been locked but was trying to avoid actually reporting it. I used the word quite deliberately to provoke a reaction and I apologise for that, it was stupid.

I also apologise to the mods for going off on one via pm after getting the expected reaction.... Quite embarrassing to be partly responsible for this mess...

Sorry.

Why? Does no one discuss anything else other than golf at your club? And are we not asked to put down other interests in our profiles to give fellow forumers a bit more info about ourselves which may then prompt discussion, which others may find interesting. As someone else said, last night's issue was in The Lounge, so was golf related. What we need to do is deal with those who can't behave themselves rather than restrict the subject matter; particularly with the weather as it is when we are struggling to get anything golf related to talk about. I would agree with one of the comments that the action seems a bit Draconian, but I'm new so I don't know all that has gone before and I'm a guest being offered a free service so I will try to comply with the house rules as a good guest should and do what I can to make it a place worth visiting.

+1

OOB is the 18 year old scotch after the fine meal. If we only had golf to talk about it would be too one dimensional.

I have met Chelsea, Everton and Man U fans on this forum and whereas these clubs aren't top of my "like" list, I have had games of golf with these lads and have loved every minute of it, as well as a few bevvies afterwards.

I know OOB does get out of hand, but so do threads about golf, it is more to do with people, than the subject matter.

There has also been lots of "love" shown through the OOB, for peoples ailments, sicknesses, bereavements and much more, which I am sure has helped some people in their personal lives.

Keep the OOB - remember the good stuff (95% of it).

A great forum not only for the golf side of things but also advice on other things from people in different trades and with a wide range of skill sets. Hope it don't get so bad it is pulled.

Biting my lip.

You were not responsible at all Karen, and I understood where you were coming from at the time, as did the rest of us, and I hope you felt the same. If only everyone was as easy to deal with then things would be so much easier on here.

Regards
Phil
