Hi guys just got the new edition and whilst flicking through I noticed on page 140 that Simon Dyson has got 15 clubs in his bag. Have the rules been changed and R&A haven't told us mere mortals???
Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm new to the forum. :o

Welcome to the forum

I think it has been mentioned before, I'm guessing he decides which one to leave out depending on the course he's playing, either that or he'll be looking for a new caddy soon !

Hi Jason
welcome to the forum

Reference the Simon Dyson, ‘what’s in the bag’ page featuring 15 clubs...
These interviews (and pictures) are almost always done on the practice range at tournaments where it’s very common for players to have more than 14 clubs in the bag (big tinkerers like Harrington might have up to 20 clubs in his bag on the practice ground) as they are trying out new clubs and deciding on what line-up to go with depending on course set-up and weather conditions that week.

Dyson alluded to this in his comments about the fairway woods and hybrid. Before stepping on to the first tee he would obviously have decided on which two clubs of the three (3W, 5W, hybrid) to go with in order not to incur a penalty but I accept we could have edited his words slightly to explain this and thus have eliminated any possible confusion on the matter.

I hope this clarifies the situation and reassures you that it was not a mistake we simply didn’t spot.
