Glove or no glove

As I said earlier if you ask a golfer to give a good reason [apart from blisters] for buying a glove they can't.

I generally get a good supply of balls at Christmas that tends to see me through the season. Not really fussed but prefer Titelist/Calloway. Draw the line at pinnacles though. I can't remember the last time I bought golf balls.

OK - I'll admit I wear a glove, always Tour Cabretta

only the one hand

I change them frequently so they do represent a cost - although I buy 10 a time and probably pay around 30% of 'counter price'

I can't remember the last time I bought a golf ball, or tee though....

I wear one because -
1. I find it comfortable
2. It provides me a degree of security ie it grip better than my hand alone and this enables me to use a v light grip tension, which most people suggest is important
3. I only wear one 'cos the other hand is totally passive (I wish....still working on that one)

Hmm this is going a bit cyclical here.... There are golfers in this thread who have given you reasons, do you not think they are good enough? Why should you be the judge to say what is good enough?

monkey see monkey do! most of the pros wear one so the amatures will too! as mentioned, who cares really. there is no right answer to this.

No there is no right answer, I have my reasons but I do not expect them to be the same for others. The reason I wear one is not because the pros do, I watch little golf as it is due to no sky :(

I can understand all the benefits of not wearing one but I have reasons to wear one too! I do take it off within about 100 yards, no reason at all to use it for those shots as it becomes a hindrance when I try to play feel shots.

i wear a glove because it makes me feel comfy. I feel as though im ready for golf when i put it on. Might be all in the mind but each to their own.

Who cares? Do you have this "moral" crusade when you think anybody is being ripped off over anything and everything?

If so there are worse rip-offs in golf than SOME people wearing gloves necessarily I am sure! Surely there are some causes more worthy of your efforts if you must.

Because of my work I wash my hands a lot. Averaging 40 times a day and probably should be even more. This results in quite smooth dry skin and I find I find don't get much grip via my left hand for full shots. I find wearing a glove helps combat this plus the added benifit of preventing blisters on my poor wee handies.

Blisters don't generally mix well with gloves, blood, s**t, piss, and dealing daily with the risks of MRSA, hepatitis and possibily worse.

I'll happily pay for the comfort gloves offer me. Same way I prefer a decent shoe. Most shoes provide an adeqaute base (just like most hands provide a decent grip) so whats the reason behind a decent pair "except for the poor wee souls who get blisters."

Have not worn a golf glove for at least twenty years.
I used to until one day my glove fell out of my pocket & by the time I'd realised I couldn't be bothered to go back for it. Suddenly, playing without one, I realised it made not a jot of difference to my golf, I just spend less money!
Bought some MacWets last week but haven't had the need to wear them yet.
I don't see the need for some people to get so upset over what is quite clearly just a matter of personal prefference.
If you wear one.....fine, if you don't wear one.....fine. No-one's finer is better than anyone else's.

Slime.

I wear a glove, not only through choice, but because my hands tend to sweat alot, regardless of the weather and I'd rather the extra grip then seeing a 7 iron helicoptering down the fairway.

I wear one. Always have, even as a kid just beginning. Does it make a difference? Who knows and frankly who cares. I wear FJ sciflex because I can get different colours to match what I'm wearing and the FJ Cabretta Sof. It might be a comfort blanket or it might help me grip but I don't get through that many and so it isn't a huge cost.

I can't understand those on here that seem to have some given right to dictate that because I do so it must be wrong. As with a lot of golf it is personal preference. Get over it. You don't wear one and thats fine. Others choose to do so and so respect their choice. This isn't something that has a categoric right or wrong answer
