Realistically how long does it take to get really used to new irons? I've had my old ones for nearly 3 years and they are like comfy old shoes, my new ones actually feel like new shoes, they hurt and pinch, how long to wear them in?
No I'm not wearing them on my feet before all the jokers kick in. :D

A lot depends upon how you try to get the feel of them I suppose. I tend to take three clubs off to the practise area or the range and just play shots with those one first time out. Next time I choose another three and so on. Half shots, full shots, knock-downs all tried out when it doesn't matter. I don't tend to take them straight out onto the course but rather get the feel of them before trying to use them for real on the course.

Everybody's different. I've seen those on here who just launch into them by taking them out onto the course to play with.

I was pretty much smitten with my MP-57s from the off. I could hit them better than my old ones but less consistently for a few weeks. The difference was very significant when I hit them good!

Took me a little while to learn to play with them but I have never scored so good in my life!

Combining the new irons, the new driver shaft and new wood shaft and getting an electric trolley took 10 shots off my game almost instantly. I went from shooting mid 90s to low 80s.. Just ask all who went to EB!!

Next time I buy new irons I will look for that big difference again.

Taking me ages to get used to my new JPX 800 pro's...........I think I've now airmailed every single green at my course with them.

Hitting the ball miles better but not used to choosing a 7 iron when I'm 180 yards out. Just can't get my head around it..........
Need to dial in the yardages today though. Hopefully my brain won't get in the way!! :o :D

 strong lofted clubs I hope?

Either that or my 35* 7 forged 7 iron is not going as far as it should do! I thought I was a long hitter bashing that from 150ish!

Ive just sold my old clubs as i was using them and my new ones.
I too had trouble with the new yardages, and still have.
I kept the old ones for a while and was using them for confidence,i finally plucked up the courage to use the new ones only, that was 2 months ago.

i switched back to blades a couple of weeks ago, had one range session when i picked them up which was awful but i'd promised my mate my old set so he could play the medal with me so had to launch them into play having hit 25 awful shots. qualified for the championship and have since had 2 of my 3 best scores yet this season with them. I find switching to a smaller headed club helps me focus and ballstriking improves as a result.

When I changed from MacG 565 to Miz 900, I just went out and played 18 with no woods, just 5-PW and SW/putter.

That was it. One game.

When I changed to Callaway X18, I did about 3 range sessions first. If I'd gone straight out with the Call's, I'd have hooked every ball probably.
