Getting told to hurry up!

to the point colin... was it your own course or were you playing a course as a vistor/guest?

It was my own course, the 'gentleman' in question was known to me and is known to be a genral pain in the backside. He had already had words with us on the 9th in his aggresive manner, which we pretty much ignored. On every tee behind us I could see they we standing on the tee with their hands on their hips ( you know the pose I mean right ? )

Also, we had not fallen behind the group in front of us at all ( also a 3 ball ) and they were clearly way ahead of the group behind them.

Let me also add this was a monthly medal.

you obviously have alot more patience than me.I would have told him to gtf and inform him I'd be reporting him to the pro for either not finishing out in a comp or adopting an agressive attitude to another member.

golf really does not need people like that.

Early dart from work last night, 3 of us teed of at 4:15, course deserted.
As we finished the 1st we looked back and there was quite a crowd on the first tee, 'timed that well' we laughed to each other.

All playing quite well, playing at a good pace, keeping an eye on those behind (having been well versed in the importance of letting people through by the father-in-law).
We can see they are playing as three or four 2 balls.
As we are walking up the 7th after our drives, the leading group are doing the same down the parallel sixth, they're waving & shouting 'come on lads hurry up, get a move on'.
This continued most of the way round the rest of the course on pretty much every hole, shouting various comments like 'come on you’ve got to speed up lads'.
Only at one point did they have to wait for us, as we holed out on a par 3.

They seemed to be very good players from what we could see, hitting some cracking shots, but as far as we could see were very keen on gimme's!
By the 16th or so they were lucky not to get some serious verbals back.

I didn't think at any point it was feasible to let them through. Although at many points it would have been feasible to swear at them.
I would always let someone through if we've lost ground on group in front, and we were holding anyone up, but what else could we have done?

We finished at 7:15, and as we stood around and watched them hit to the green then pick their balls up, were quite restrained in a polite 'plenty of light left then?' comment.

Anyway I'm blaming the pressure for failing to break 90 again! A frustrating 91.
Spent last night considering my scores & have decided I can pick up most shots by improving my greenside chips to get nearer the flag.
That's my practice regime for the next 2 weeks.
I will shoot sub 90 before the end of May!

I admire your restraint i dont think i would have been so polite. But as for goal setting i think you need to be a bit more positive, giving yourself 6 weeks to break 90 is a little bit too long, just for one shot.Try and do it in the next 4 rounds,im sure you can :)

Unless I am behind incompetent hackers then pace of play doesn't really bother me. If you are in that much of a hurry then you shouldn't be on a golf course.

Cheers, secretly i've set myself the target of one week (two games planned), but I'm not telling anyone.
Now thinking of a dual attack on the 90 threshold of practiced chipping and worse adding up :D

Make it two months or more to make any real impact.

Anyway always ask "whats the problem lads, do you want to skip some holes"

By the way, the other night, just two of us, we asked the group in front "any chance of letting us through lads, we just want to zip round. No bother guys.

the 90 threshold

Sounds to me like you're playing good enough golf to break 90, but if you can at all try not to focus on doing that! We inevitably sabotage ourselves when we set a hard target, if you need a 5 at the last for 89 you're bound to take 6. Just play every shot on its merits and dont add up your score as you go around, forget about the bad holes (there's nothing you can do about them) and dont imagine you'll pick up a shot on the next easy hole - because it hasnt happened yet. Mark you score after every hole and forget about it, play the next. Thats the quickest way to break 90; to not try to break 90. Breeze around, play your golf, add it up at the 18th, you'll soon find you were playing in the 80s without even realising it, because you are that good a golfer, and the pressure of holding to such a definitive goal won't hold you back.

It's OK - your secret's safe with us - good luck.

If the course was deserted in front, why not let them through if they are only a two ball. Clearly there was room to do so and it would have taken the pressure of your group so you could have enjoyed your round even more
