Getting The UK Economy back on track

So who is going to pay for the extra wages for people to pay for more expensive items ?
if people can’t afford to pay for it due to it being more expensive the UK business isn’t going to suddenly boom

And is the country really going to put huge tariffs on imports ? Wonder what the repercussions will be on our exports ?

Here's a radical idea, maybe people could go back to what they used to do and actually save up to buy something instead of having the now, now, now attitude that many display. How about instead of a £60 per month phone contract they get one for £30 a month? There's £360 saved each year. Instead of two takeaways a month at £20 each just have one. There's another £240 saved each year.

Very radical idea and the theory sounds lovely

Now practically ? Can you really see the nation doing that

Sounds a bit too radical to me! Although, didn't loans fund two-thirds of a shiny new stadium in your part of Essex?

Some sections certainly should give it serious thought! My boss for starters... earns lots, spends even more! :-)

not a good idea spending less will slow the economy down. we need the confidence to go out and spend money. How about banning redundancies for 6 months, fingers crossed this would give people confidence to start spending money again and get the economy rolling again

I have to disagree, saving is not the answer. A healthy economy is based on the circulation of money. Spending creates demand, creates work, creates wages, which allows spend .. etc the circle goes on. It even thrives on borrowing, but and it is a big but, there is a balance to be had in the amount of borrowing impacting rates and affecting inflation which impacts rates which impacts costs etc...another circle of the economic balance.
It’s what the Bank of England spends all its time thinking about.

I dont believe he is advocating spending less but suggesting saving up for the things you want rather than getting them on credit then shelling out interest that will restrict your purchasing power and hand your money over to people who have lots of money.
