Afternoon all,I know there is a thread about gps ,yes or no but after thoughts on wether to buy garmin s3 approach watch or Garmin g6 handheld,I intended to buy one or the other, just advice from anyone who have them please.

I have an S3 bought after a shotmiser. S3 all the way for me - quick reliable and accurate, no faffing its on your wrist and there in front of you. You can set it up for your home course for hazards its just so easy to use.
If you like loads of extra info and play lots of unfamiliar courses the G6 maybe better but I find front middle or back much easier rather than messing with a small screen

I had a Garmin s1 watch which I was retry pleased with. I did however find that I didn't find it as comfortable as I thought I would and consequently often used to tie the watch to my golf trolley. In the end I sold it on eBay and opted for the Apprach G3 handset which does the job quite nicely.

In addition to the above I preferred the information that the handheld device gave you over the watch. The s3 has changed that but previously the s1 only gave you front, middle back to the green, whereas the handheld would tell you distances to certain hazards etc.

Ive had S1 basic and OK and the far superior S3 which has better display resolution, and allows you to add up to 5 hazards while you are out on the course which are saved for that course

Easy to ready and always with you,

High price but worth it just for the hazard add feature
