You'd be surprised the amount of times I've seen lads affected by it in bounce games. My mate says it never makes a difference, but he's blagging it.
One such instance standing on the 18th tee, all square with him being a drawer of the ball, and my ball down the middle. I said this is a faders hole, he promptly sliced it over the fence over 100 yards away to the right. Only a bounce game and me and my regular mates including Gaz always have a laugh doing it.
One such fella had it remarked to him that he had a firm grip. 12 months later he asked if it was still too firm............

Of course if the OP is 7 up after 7 then I don't imagine too much gamesmanship is going to make any difference.
