Game golf live

Can some one explain how live actually works. Does the phone use GPS as well as the device? Didn't really want to kill my battery however do have a spare phone that works without sim that I could use. But preload the course and make sure maps load but this could be hassle. Hoping someone can help.

Possibly moving away from Arccos due to me gripping on the sensor due to the size.

Yes I've got one. It uses your phones gps/3G data coverage to access your location when tagging. It does really chew the battery on an iPhone. I use it occasionally when I know I'm not going to be near a computer for a while to upload a round (eg golf trip) however if I'm going home I'll use it like a standard game golf device and not pair it with my phone (pairs via Bluetooth)
