I've got a pair of proquip trousers that kept me compltley dry stood in the pisshing rain at the ryder cup on the friday.

Also got a Footjoy jacket for christmas and i've played in some nasty weather in this and italso kept me dry.

Both together only cost me about £180 (about the price of a GG jacket)

The Galvin Green stuff does look nice though.

I absolutely love the look & feel of GG stuff, and wouldnt hesitate if I could justify it.
BUT, as I absolutely hate playing in the rain, I cant, just no point.

Know what they say.....Buy Cheap, Buy Twice.

Don't diss Andy Buttar, Andy is the star of Machrihanish 2011, there is absolutely no question about it, that man is a legend!

He even managed to produce an improvised booby prize on the Sunday morning for the boys. GENIUS.

I bought a GG jacket last year and tbh it is the best waterproof jacket I have EVER bought. I dont doubt that there is other stuff that might be as good but IMO if you play on when it rains buy it, you will no9t regret it.

Had the Austin jacket and Alf trousers for three years now. Can't fault it. Mind you I did pick up the jacket for £90, so allround good value!

After 30 years of yachting I learnt the hard way about the value of good waterproof kit. Okay I didn't have a choice of walking off in the middle of the ocean! I've always said. There's no such thing as bad weather, just a bad choice of clothing!

As to the cost. If you play all year, in all weathers, it's worth it. If not, and budget is a consideration, other makes would be fine.

I got a proquip silktouch suit from Clubhouse Golf. They've soem decent deals on at the moment. I've got to say my Proquip never let me down throughout the winter and I played in some pretty heavy rains at time and stayed perfectly dry

Personally I think GG is overpriced. I've not doubt the technology that goes into the gear is probably the best around but when I can stay equally as dry for a fraction of the cost it seems a bit of a no brainer

I have got Galvn Green stuff and it is the best waterproof golf stuff I have ever owned. Very good and despite the price, good value.

There was a sale in Lillywhites a couple of weeks ago and they had 60% off! Good stuff at that price!

Snelly.

Yeah Galv stuff is definitely worth the cash. No complaints atol and ive worn mine for 2 winter leagues on the trot. Note though: sizes seem to be a bit smaller than normal,im usually a large but with Galvin Green stuff I need to go with the xl.

Also worth a try is Under Armour gear, Ive recently got their ArmourStorm Rain suit and so far im very impressed. Its as good if not better as the Galvin Green Gore-tex Paclite stuff... but not cheap either.
My local pro Shops, Eyemouth GC & The Hirsel have superb selection of both.

I have been through no end of weather gear both waterproof and windproof. I have to say GG is the best in both looks and performance. Their fashion range is ace as well, if you can afford it then go for it. If your patient bargains can be had. Ebay is always a place to start if you know what to look for.

I too bought a gg jacket last month In the sale at our pro shop. £189, my friends all have different makes most have lasted 3 years tops before leaks, gg is guaranteed waterproof for life so if I spent £200 over 2 sets in say six years I may as well bought the gg. I didnt go for the trousers as I couldn't afford them! And I wear them out quick on the back of the hem and they get ripped and filthy, also inblight rain I don't bother to put them on.

I had Footjoy before, and Adidas Storm, both were good, but I managed to get a GG top in the sale at Direct Golf just before Christmas, got it reduced to 90 from 180. Have to say that I am hugely impressed with it, keeps me warm and dry, the paclite folds up very small and also smart enough to wear off the course too (have it with me here in Japan as easy to carry around).

Lifetime warranty seals it, everything else only has 1 - 3 year warranry, so possibly have to buy again during that period. If you can find a good deal, they are worth it.

As for suppliers, Direct Golf and Function 18, Snainton Golf have a discount section, and a few others, just use the Google button and you`ll find a few. You may want to have a look on ebay too, there is always a few listed there....

I`ll also give a thumbs up to the Insular tops, got a new one from ebay, fantastic top, lovely feel, and again have it with me here as a warm layer.

+1 for Stuburt

Stuburt Helium Jacket - top banana!

To be honest the way i treat most of my clothes (left getting crispy in the boot) i couldn't justify the extra money.

So that's three posts now all identical and all on old threads about Galvin Green and all slating Galvin Green.

Look out for last years jackets, i got one at Xmas for around £150, almost half price.

As an angler I know that Goretex is the real deal, I don't think anything else comes close, although other brands have developed something similar. You pay for what you get. I had Proquip before and it soon lost its waterproofing capacity and, importantly, was not breathable which is a key attribute of goretex. Have also had fishing gear that did the same.

However, accept the earlier post that if you are a fair weather golfer it maybe not worth the outlay.

If you're cute you can get some great GG bargains around now when Pro shops need to turn dead money back into working capital, My Pro shop has huge discounts off some of the GG stuff as he needs the room now for summer gear, I've also noticed this trend at quite a few clubs I've visited recently, quite simply, for me, lifetime guarantee speaks volumes...
