Yeah you did PM but after 3 other people and you had the lowest offer. I thought I was doing the decent thing by explaining that over PM. Obviously you wanted a favour of a stranger. I'm looking to sell for money. Don't take offence you offered the least amount

I offered what you requested in your for sale thread
The same amount as another buyer you told me about via PM

At that point I declined to get in a bidding war as stated

You advertised the price.......not me
If you wanted more, you should have priced higher in your ad

As nobody else had posted on your thread, I'd no inclination to bid against mystery buyers

Pleased you got what you wanted though, good day to you

Why would anyone offer you initially more than the asking price of £100 ONO? Surely they'd just offer the asking price unless you played them off against each other?

Nope no playing of here, bud. Just someone really wanted them so went in over the asking price in which I accepted. Not sure what the big deal is, they are sold now so the matter is dealt with

The big deal is, that the forum For Sale area has a lot of trust built around it so we can all purchase and sell items in full transparency, something that didn't occur with this transaction. That's why so many posts have to be accrued also before you can sell, it helps builds trust levels and knowledge of whom you may be buying off or selling too, whilst that has been achieved in part, selling through PM's isn't ideal and it removes that transparency and trust.

So I'm sorry but I disbelieve anyone offered you more than the asking price, never mind 3 people in total within an hour of posting and with Moogies being the lowest offer of 4 in total, which was in fact the full asking the price!!

It's hard to believe anyone, never mind 3 other people would all PM and would initially offer more especially with a ONO attached to the asking price and especially as there were no transparent replies on the thread at that time other than Moogies after 1 hour, why would they?

It comes across as though played people in a dutch auction off against each other through PM's IMO, and for that reason I'll never look at buying anything you're selling on here in the future!

I was more than happy to keep it public but everyone seems to want to take it to the PM's, not my fault, I just understand its the done thing around here.

As I'm obviously getting a lot of heat in regards to this situation, let me ask you guys what you would have done, so I can keep you all happy next time.

1. I post irons for £100 ONO
2. I get PM offering me £95
3. I get PM offering me £100
4. I get message on thread saying there is a PM sent (Moogie)
5. I get PM offering me £100 (Moogie)
6. I get PM offering £100
7. I then do not have any affiliation to anyone so hard for me to decide who to give it too as PM's were sent within a matter of minutes of each other. So I send a message to all involved parties saying there have been others that have bid the same and not sure if the protocol is first come first served, so asked if there was any wiggle room on offer as that would help me decide who to sell too.
8. Two didn't reply, Moogie said he didn't want to get into a bidding war, in which I apologized for, and the fourth offered £110 as he really wanted them.
9. My mind was made up

Apologies if I have ruined the trust I have gained on here by anyone, and hope I can learn from this experience and try best to please you all in the future

As much as I agree with Robin, it's decent of you to post an explanation.

One observation for you, in the rules Mike H has published for selling items he does state we must advertise at a FIXED price, your error has been in you putting ONO. This has led to your dilemma and other peoples annoyance.

Thanks Paul, i agree with your point regarding "ONO", this was an oversight on my part and this situation may have been avoided.

I just thought if some of those pointing out my errors have only seen what was on the thread, as opposed to the privacy of my PM's, so thought i would explain my point of view

So Moohie wasn't the lowest offer as you previous stated, he offered the asking price as all the others did bar 1, as such the earliest offer whether in a pm or openly at the asking price of £100 should have won the purchase!

Which
Was exactly what I told him to do
He said 2 pm with asking price, wasn't sure of protocol, but told me if I offered more then they were mine

I told him to check the times of the 2 pm messages, and sell to the guy that posted to him 1st
That's the correct thing to do
Not to ask for more money.......that's the gripe.....just plain greed

I wasn't prepared to outbid someone, and do the dirty, as me and ANother had offered exactly what he wanted

Just greed
Pure and simple

Anyway
Due to bringing the poor actions of seller to light, the good of the forum has shone through
A forum member last night sent me a PM with an offer of same model clubs at same price ( they're for my mates son )

I'd tell you who it is, to get him praise
But fear he'd be swamped with messages from others and gazump me:D

Well we will agree to disagree, but greed comes with SELLING, i have a mortgage to pay and money is money.

I will learn this for next time, and try to keep people happy :)
