Frustrated, but determined to take the positives out of this.....

Stableford yesterday, where I proceeded to double bogey the first, - no points.....Good start
However, lot of wind, so tried to wipe it from memory and just get on with it.

Played the next 8 in 2 over gross to recover the situation, ending the front 9 with 19pts. happy days.

The start of our back 9 is tough, ....very tough, so to par 10 & 11 saw me even happier, and from there on I ended up stood on the 7th tee only another 2 shots over Par, with 35pts.
Surely a steady finish from here would see me perhaps with 38/39 pts, and a cut back to Single figures from my current 9.7......

Cue the finish.....
An overly cute 6iron to a tight pin to see my ball end up in the stream lining the front of the green, when a 5iron would have left me totally safe......
I nearly got up and down, but didnt.

Slightly pushed Tee shot into a howling gale on the elevated 18th Tee, saw my ball hit a tree plum on, and ricochet back toward me down the fairway, leaving no chance of making the green in 2.
So what did I do ?
Instead of playing a nice easy 6 iron across the dogleg to leave me with a chip and a chance of a 4, but safe 5, ......I try and drill a 4iron around the corner which doesnt come off, leaving me in the rough, and results in another double bogey for another blob.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of success

Looking back, you really have to step away, take a deep breath, and think things through, reminding that idiot sat on your shoulder whispering 'go on.....of course you make the green'......to feck off, as you take the safe route to a safe 2pts, which would finish off your day with some sense of satisfaction, despite the 2 blobs on the card.

Or........I recall the fabulous golf I put together for 15holes between the 1st & the 18th ?????

Damn game.......

It happens. Great recovery after a poor start means you obviously have the mental will poweer to fight on and so its a question of improving the course management a touch and glory will be yours
