Formby - any tips/advice?

Hi all, I'm playing Formby (not Formby hall) this Sunday and was wondering if anyone has any general advice for playing it? Also, whet my appetite, is it as good as they say?

Four of us have a deal of £200.00 for the tee time, inc soup and rolls, which is a steal instead of £130.00 w/e summer rate per person. They have it during the week for £180.00, but runs out this week, get it while you can.

Quality place mate. You will enjoy it. My advice is a bit of a cliche but keep in on the fairway. Stray offline and the rough can swallow balls like no tomorrow.

Royal Bootle beats it hands down!

Never played it, heard it's the toughest course around that way.

You really do need to find the fairway here. Its a fantastic course and can play really hard. You will enjoy it as its a great place.

I've still never played Royal Bootle, despite playing loads of the other munis (Arrowe, Hoylake,Brackenwood, Kirkby, Allerton and even Widnes and Sherdley park).

I have always had mixed reports - whats your take. Have they finished the work on it?

I haven't played in my trackies for years....

What summed up the whole day was sloppy, the team, the tactics ,the play, the ref (I would say that). Everything. A very poor result, we even made Gary Caldwell look good.

I hope you go down, as you have had the temerity to take 5-6 points off us the last 2-3 years.

My advice - You're in Merseyside, keep everything close at hand or locked down.

Stu, check the back of the new cards they have produced, I think there is a local ruling to say you can't go round with 2 x 25+ handicappers. If not - there should be.
