Any tips from guys that have played it before?

It's stunning, well the back 9 definitely is.

Front 9 7/10 and the back 9 9/10, for me.

Great place. Enjoy yourself.

Score on the front 9 and club up on the back 9. Back 9 requires length off the tee so give it a rip - enjoy it it's going to be a cracker

Depending ont he tee of the day, there are 6 par 4's that are 400+ yards long. I didn't take any of them on and pitched and tried to putt for par and make a safe bogey (net par). As I scored 11 out of 12 points on these it seemed a logical choice. Mind you it might be drier than when we played in October and so you might decide to have a punt. There is some thick rough around the greens plus water hazards and deep bunkers so my advice is to have a game plan stick to it and use your shots.

you shouldnt need driver on the 2nd , if you can hit a draw it will be perfect , start it down the right of the fairway ..
stroke index 18 par 3 150ish i think .. be big ha, only water in front of you ..

practice pace on the practice putting greens for a while before you head out , greens are very quick ..

dont listen to the muppet in the starters hut regarding pin placements , he doesnt know or the green keeper fooled him ..

Im going in August on a stay and play deal playing both courses. Really looking forward to it and by the sounds of it a great choice. Whats the other course like?

well we played it yesterday and to be honest I thought it was an amazing golf course! I can see why people seem to like the back9 more but the front 9 isn't too shabby, I thought holes 8&9 were quality!

We arrived early and made the most of the practice facilities which I thought were very good. We then got to the starters hut and were told that we had been paired up. Our partners were a very nice couple, which was a bonus, but I didnt really see the need to be paired up to be honest. The group before us tee'd off 20 minutes before while we waited for our partners to arrive, we could have quite easily got away. As it was the round took over 5 hours! It was the longest round I've ever played and it did get on my nerves abit in the heat!

I didnt play all that well, started off quite well but faded a bit on the back 9, about 3 hours after we started! The rough was punishing and cost me a fair few shots, the wind was also whipping about a bit which made things tough. We played off the whites which made it a tougher test too.

I would recommend a DMD if you play it(we didnt have one), no indication of pin placements and the greens are pretty big, its quite hard to judge where the pin is from 180-odd yds away and it can be 2-3 clubs difference!!

I am slightly gutted that I didnt do it justice but I dont feel that its beyond my ability to play well there and we are allready planning our return visit in a couple of months!!

All in all in was a top day and I would definitely recommend a visit.

I picked up a flyer with an offer of tea/coffee, bacon rolls, £10 lunch voucher, range token and unlimited golf for £69. from 23rd july - 3rd september. Bargain I reckon!
