I suppose if the holes were to be enlarge to that, I suppose it would cut the cheats out........

Why would I want to spend another 45 minutes on the course to putt at a bigger hole?
we get round in 3 hours no problem at all in a threeball for comps and we play ready golf in a fourball for bounce games which means we still get round in about 3 hours.

So the reason for these Super-size holes is to attract more people to golf....
Attract them to Golf or a game based on Golf?
I'm sure it could be fun chipping and putting at these oversized holes but the idea is not to replace normal golf with this. So people come along and start playing, it's virtually impossible to miss from 6 feet....
They now try to graduate to the proper game....how quickly will try have to improve their putting to be able to get the ball into a normal size hole? They'll soon lose interest in the normal game in favour of the new version....
How does that help "proper" golf?
Most clubs don't have space in the calendar to fit in a few extra events of this kind - which will be an annoyance to existing members who don't want to play "Mickey-Mouse" golf....
And new players will still have to get the ball to the green....which is probably just as difficult. How do you combat that? Have 10-pin bowling style bumpers along the edge of the fairway?
If a new player is going to play golf they have to learn how - getting it of the tee, getting it down the fairway and on to the green, then getting it in the cup...all are as important as the other and watering down 1 aspect won't help the other parts.
If anything, if they want to make golf easier for beginners then they should focus on getting to the green. As they say, with a bit of practice there's no reason for any one to be a poor putter.
I still reckon building pitch'n'putt courses and decent par 3 courses is the way to go. Keep it as proper golf, just shorter...

I went round Kenilworth as an escort to 3 juniors on Wednesday with 2 of them aged 12 off handicaps of 13 & 15 and 1 young girl aged 11 off 8 and we were done in 3.5hrs, they didn't need bigger holes!

Does it come for a winch attached to the side to lower in any shorter players to retrieve their ball?

I am another one questioning why we need a gimmick to play faster golf. If people walked instead of dandered and didn't spend an eternity considering their shot (which will almost never pan out the way they ended up planning it), then sub 4 hour golf is easy for anyone.

If they made that hole a tad bigger, and chucked some sand in it, it would make a good pot bunker.

I asked wor lass if she would take up golf if the hole was bigger and showed her the photo, her initial reply was yes she would, then she thought about it and said as a beginner, I'm probably not going to be able to hit it very far, I'm probably going to be in the long grass or trees a lot, so making the hole bigger wouldn't make any difference.
Actually that's my game I'm talking about, but either way, making the hole bigger is a rubbish idea.

Apparently so, these days.
Don't play very many Saturday comps at my club, largely due to the pace of play, but last year did play in one where I was partnered by two newish members.
As we stood on the 18th tee we could see in the distance the clubhouse clock and one of my FC's announced "we have done well, we are going to be finished in just over four and a half hours."
I laughed at first and then realised he was being serious! Oh well no more Saturday comps for me not if 4 hours 40 mins is thought to be a decent time.
