I found this a few months ago and it has completely transformed my driving.....To the point now where its one of the stronger parts of my game.....

If you struggle with ball position,or alignment with a driver and im sure alot do as i have then it wouldnt hurt to try this....And when you actually sit back and think about it for a minute it makes complete sense.

A month ago I started "properly" lining myself up for my tee shots.
I look for a blemish/divot/hole that is the result of Fragger's Top that's about a yard in front of the tee that is in line with where I want to go. The tee goes in, inline with the blemish, I step back and check the line and then simply line the driver up with the blemish. Everything else falls into place and as long as I swing normally I get a straight 250 yard driver.
I've been hitting 60-80% of fairways since doing this and the bad ones are only just off the short stuff.
Only 2 or 3 shockers in that time.

Soooo simple but soooooo effective.

Fragger can't be that bad if he always has the honour.:lol:

:) :) :) :)....Brilliant.

Murg....I still pick my point in front of the ball but when i address it now i always drop the driver straight in the middle of my stance.....That way i fell like its easier to square all the right parts in one go....

If i put the driver right behind the ball then about 50% of the time i might catch it right and the other half the ball was likely to go anywhere.

Shawn Clements is a great instructor. He explains that Moe Norman, the best ball striker of all time set up with his club back behind the ball and he did it for the exact same reason Shawn explains. To stop you opening your shoulders and creating slices/fades, like 90% of golfers do.

Forget about the touring pros, they have the skill to overcome swing errors, just look at the difference in the way they swing at the ball.

I alway line up on something about 3' in front. As for set up alway set up with any club centered in my stance, then tilt my spine and shoulders to put the club behind the ball. Stops me opening my shoulders at set up. Which use to be one of my many faults, and the easyest to cure as long as you remember to do it that is.

Lining the driver up in line with your body then having your shoulders hips knees and feet lined up where you want to hit it is bloody hard with the driver to actually get all of that square. I have noticed over the years when people hit bad drives it is more to do with not being set up correctly rather than making a bad swing. So anything that helps you set up square to your target is always worth having a go at. I think you have to have a good shot routine with the driver to make sure you get this spot on every time. I have a routine with the driver that some people may think is excessive but it works really well for me and a couple of my mates have started to do it now also.

It felt strange addressing the ball that way, but once I started the back swing and my eye was on the ball, it felt normal.
