Footjoy AQL Aternative for aching feet

Used Footjoy AQL for several years but due to feet issues ( aching, stiff ) looking for a new pair and maybe a different brand

Comfort in the AQL shoes have always been fine its the aching feet afterwards

So new shoes must have good support to minimise the stress to my feet

Incidently i carry normally and prefer this but load on the old feet needs good shoes

Sensible budgets only i.e AQL pricing approx in black

are you sure its the aql that are making your feet hurt? i got inserts fitted by feet specialist (had flat feet and didnt know) pain free for 6 years, golf still rubbish. adidas have low to ground shoes

No i didnt say the AQL were making my feet hurt, my feet ached anyway and needed a decent pair as good as the AQL or better

I tried the inserts for fallen arches a few years back but dint feel right so stopped

I think you are going to have to spend a lot more than normal to get a really comfortable pair of shoes.
I suffer from achey feet and ankles due to years of football when I was younger.
Doesn't matter if I wear my £50.00 AQL's, my £90.00 Contours or my £180.00 Icons, my feet still ache after a game.
I read good things about the Ecco Bioms. Supposed to be extremely comfortable and supportive.
But I'd better not buy a pair, my Missus would kill me

The Ecco Biom's are without doubt the most comfy shoe I have ever tried. I bought a pair recently and have to say they are like wearing bedroom slippers so soft and comfy. But for £180 they ought to be. I got mine for £100 as the Pro I bought them from owed me a favour.

Maybe if the shoe price and quality will add little to my aching feet maybe i should stick to the trusty AQL

I have a couple of pairs of AQLs, 2 x Tour Sports and a pair of Synergy (?)

The good news is that you get what you pay for - it's also the bad news.

I generally wear the Sports, slightly heavier but better padded, wider sole and cleat pattern. Synergy is much heavier but more comfortable still - AQL are lightweight, and more enjoyable in the summer.

However, I echo the earlier comment re fitting, and if you have arch issues I would get the correct support first, then the right fitting shoes to put them in; whether FJ or any other brand.

It was the fact that I booked another block of 6 x 1 hour lessons and I gave up an afternoon of my time to help him out with a demo day he had organised due to his staff being on Holiday and off sick that enabled me to get them at that price.These are the ones I bought:

You would be surprised on how shoes differ in height, even if w are talking in millimetres, it can make a difference.

adidas shoes, Puma Cell Fuion 3's and Nike Lunar's are the lowest of spiked shoes, compre them to FJs and you will see what bigslice was talking about.

Have you thought about trying some of the "street shoes"? I got myself a pair of adidas adiCross and they are very comfy! The Ecco range looks good and all the big shoe co's have their versions, even FJ

Ecco are great. I used to be a Footjoy fanboy but I have to say I will not buy any other brand of shoe now. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Achey feet could be due to the shoes not fitting your arch type.

I saw something on by Greg Rose that may have been on mytpi.com years ago or maybe the golf channel and they recommended shoes within a range based on your arch type (maybe pronation / supination too) and corresponding need for stability / flexibility. It's free to join at a basic level and the article / video may still be on there.
