Having just booked 11 days away end of June/July now looking at course options, may get chance to play twice whilst there.

What are the Must play courses in the Orlando Area, considering the Disney courses as staying nearby but also looking at Celebration Golf Club and Lake Buena Vista and Orange County National.

Anyone played any of these or got any recommendations

Anyone else out there end of June beginning of July and fancy a round?

Around Orlando I have played Lake Buena Vista, The Palm, and Magnolia. They are all Disney courses, and you won't be unhappy playing any of them. Magnolia is the one you see on telly though. It helps that I can get on for next to nothing though, as a friend works for Mickey.

Florida Courses? My favourite subject.

I have played around 10 courses in Florida all varying in terms of budget but know a bit about many more.

As budgets go you can play in the summer for under $30 where you will get a buggy with no GPS which is fine, pay a bit more and you will get a touch screen A4 size GPS on your buggy. Pay more than $100 you can play courses used on the PGA (Magnolia at Disney) and LPGA tour (Grande Cypress) also OCN is used as final Q school qualifying for the PGA tour.

Courses to play

My favourite currently is Grande Pines but feel it will be taken over in May by Grande Cypress. Neither cheap but both top notch. Orange county National with Panther Lake is one of the most talked up courses around, ive never played it but will do in May, it's a bit further out but worth the journey.

Also really enjoy Metro West which is owned by Marriot and it's sister Falcons Fire, both within touching distance of the disney area.

For value for money consider playing Providence which is a bit south of Orlando but good value at around $30 and a chance to see gators in the wild near the course.

Other courses also worth a mention

Hunters Creek
Highland Reserve
Royal St Cloud
Celebration
Championsgate
Waldorf Astoria

And many many more

diamondback and falcons fire are two great courses!
Agreed. Two great courses those.
The Legends course at Orange Lakes used to be lovely... haven't been back for years though, so it may have changed. We got on for $35 each including rental clubs and a buggy (mind you, that was 11 years ago!!)!

Much of the golf in Orlando is dull dull dull.

OCN (either course) is very good, and not too far out of town.

I have to say I thought Grand Cypress and Grande Pines were rather forgettable. I agree they are rather expensive, though.

If you are wiling to drive out of town, there are some great courses a bit further out.

Or if you play at a decent club here, ask your pro to contact a couple of private clubs to see if they will let you on. Lake Nona would be a good starting point, or the Country Club of Orlando.

I am off to Orlando in the morning for 9 rounds of golf. The courses we ar due to play are Providence, Southern Dunes, Timacuan, Orange County Panther, Diamond Back, Harmony, Eaglebrook, Stonybrook and either Celebration, Grande Pines or Orange County Crooked.

This will be our third year of golfing in Florida and I haven't had a disappointing round yet. We always go at this time of the year and book directly with the courses, usually a couple of weeks before we go as you get better deals neare the time. Our costs range between $104 for Orange County to $10 for Southern Dunes (Reduced from $119!) the average being around $60. These prices are inclusive of buggies.

Lucky man.

If you decide on Grande Pines you'll enjoy it, I played awfull when I played it but found it immaculate in the height of summer which is no mean feat given the rain they get then.

You should enjoy Providence, two completely different front and back 9 with the front 9 through the estate and the back 9 through the trees, a chance to see gators in the proper wild.

Played Southern Dunes, Timacuan and Stoneybrook all real good courses and Southern Dunes for $10 is awesome. Enjoy yourselves.
