Afternoon All, going upto Edinburgh in a couple of weeks and wanted to know of a good course and not to expensive to play. Would like it to be flattish but not to bothered as can always hire a buggy. Don't really want it to be too expensive for a round. I have played Prestonfields a few times and enjoyed that as my mother joined and looking for a change. I've heard about one not to sure if its on the outskirts of Edinburgh which has seals on it or by it?

Some flattish courses in or around Edinburgh include

Duddingston
Ratho Park
Royal Musselburgh

There's no end of courses, to be honest, but lots are hilly! Although I'm sure they're not the only flat ones.

No seals on any of those but, I imagine, there's a chance of seeing seals near any of the courses on the East Lothian coast.

Ratho Park is a nice parkland course in a quiet private estate and is usually in very good condition, there are no real signature holes to speak off.

If you are willing to travel a few miles outside the west of edinburgh then try deer park its an absolute cracking course.

Both will set you back around 30 - 35 weekday

as for seal watching it must be somewehre near musselburgh as im fairly certain thats where the seals are nowadays.

You could play musselburgh old course reputed to be the first golf course in the world, it s a nine holer inside musselburgh racetrack but you cant see anything.

Thanks for the quick replies. They all look nice. Probs gonna go for Ratho Park the club house looks boss on the photo. I like the Duddingston website the way you can see a photo of all 18 holes.

I like Duddingston. Nice track. Mortonhall is nice, very nice but a little bit of undulation.

So many to choose from. This will be a headache soon but a good one :) That Mortonhall is only round the corner from my parents so look like a winner now. I wish I had took golf back up when I lived in Edinburgh.

Mortonhall is a very good track, you will enjoy it.

Ah well it is all about opinions. Ratho flat and boring, great if you're recovering from a heart attack as one of my father in laws friends are.

Deer Park is up and down up and down up and down up and down etc etc in the mud

Pumperherston has severe drainage issues and severe member issues (I know as I am one)

Oatridge, zzzzzzzzzz

Greenburn, only played once

Sure there are others and I stand to be corrected!

Harburn is good and varied

Linlithgow, boys course ;)

Kingsfield, 9 holes
