Went for a fitting today to finally replace the Steelhead 4 wood I've had for many years, after a quick discussion and few shots with the old 4 wood we looked at the results from the launch monitor and decided a 3 wood maybe better so the fitter put together a couple of clubs and after peppering the range left, right and centre i settled on a KZG GF2 3 wood with an Accra firm tipped shaft. I had decided beforehand to go with whatever came out best (remember reading a post on here a while back about someone getting fitted and not looking at the heads so brand/looks didnt influence his decision and I wanted to do the same).

Also had a putter fitting whilst i was there, currently have a scotty Newport 2.5 (going spare!:)) it was an impulse off the shelf buy, always loved the look but it's been a bit inconsistent and I've always felt there was room for improvement (had putting lessons too). After watching a few putts he noticed a few (too many) things, tried a few different putters for style/feel etc, then used the adjustable. Scotty is a bit on the long side for me, too upright and the grip is too slim, now I know I could have had the putter chopped and bent etc... But to be honest... i want something shiney... Or matt black... Opted for seemore fgp original. Scotty is a million times more sexy no doubt about but the fgp performed waaay better, liked the riflescope thing too, an added bonus, so it was a no brainer in the end.

Going back in ten days or so once they've been built to hit the them and see how they perform. All guaranteed so any changes will be made, even if they don't work at all they'll be swapped at no extra cost. Couldn't argue with that...it was a cracking experience, the time flew by, i love all that geeky launch monitor stuff too, should have made a note of the numbers, I'll get them next time if they are saved, Roll on middle of feb!

The pro II's are getting on too so they will be next to go, he did mention something about muira's....house is already for sale!

No need to sell the house, they don't cost much more than mainstream custom fits.

Good to hear you enjoyed the custom fitting :)

Another successful fitting by the sound of it.

Open-minded approach is the key.

Selling the Scotty should just about fund it too! :)

It was, waiting is killing me already though.

Definitely, no problem with choosing performance over looks/brand, for me anyway.

It should do, should sell pretty quickly too.

@dean he did say he tries to cover a range of clubs from about £300-£1250. Just need to have a go with some, really liking the Japanese forged stuff just lately, and the scratch golf irons too. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have some.

Give the KZG irons a try too, bought a set last summer, Best irons Ive ever hit / owned
Got a great range, something for every level, Jap Forged range, great clubs

I still think this is more brand focused than customer focused, the fitter must have their livelihood to consider. If you putted with a Forgan putter for £30 would you buy it.

Fair enough, I agree he does have to consider his livelihood, maybe explains why he didn't have any putters under £115. But with the work he's put in to sell it I can't blame him.

The putter I've ordered will cost £115. We spent 40 minutes or so yesterday discussing what I like in a putter, watched me putt, adjusted a few things. Showed me the a few putters etc, worked out length and grip type/size etc. I got on best with the seemore so that's what we settled on. In a week or so I'll be going back once he has built the putter, double checking length and sorting the lie angle and grip choice until I'm happy. I've paid nothing for his time or for building/adjusting it and its all guaranteed, if i don't get on with it i can swap it for another. For me that represents good value for money. My current putter is a scotty, bought from AG, off the shelf straight to the till; £200. An impulse buy which I regret, brand and looks got the better of me that day, I'm determined it won't happen again. Hoping I won't need to buy another putter for a very long time. Just my opinion though.

@moogie I will do, which ones did you get?
