Anyone use one? Was thinking of getting the Microsoft Band 2, but have been pointed towards the fitbit surge. anyone have one? Any other suggestions? I use an iphone if that matters. What i want is a decent web based or app dashboard, heart rate monitoring, gps etc but dont want to go down the whole smartwatch route...

Colleague has the MS Band 1 and loves it. Uses it for running mostly. I bought one for MrsP and she hated it but then she's a technophobe. Personally I'd love an MS band 2. They do look very nice. The new curved face will make them a lot more comfortable to wear for starters.

I have a fitbit chargeHR. It makes an excellent alarm clock. The rest of the features are ok, but the HR won't link to runtastic, or endomondo, which renders it useless.
It did tell me that my resting heart dropped to 47 in a meeting though. Bored? I think I must have been.

Cheers Chris, Did you try the fitbit app or dashboard at all?

Yes, but I'm kind of not interested!

Step counter is ok, but gets confused pushing golf trolley or cycling. Too many vibrations count as steps. Ok when walking or running though. But I'm not going to try to do 10k steps anyway.

Stairs gets confused by weather changes, as it's barometer based.

I'd like to link HR to running software.

The dashboard is pretty clear, if you're into that sort of thing. Can drill down into weeks, months etc. Loads of history.

The alarm is good, as it vibrates, and doesn't wake the Mrs. No snooze though, so need to set multiple times if required. Only available on the HR version.

If they released the code so other programs could integrate, it would be much better. Don't know why they don't, they would sell more gadgets.

It can do notifications from phone, but I can't as I have them turned off or they drive me mental!

I think one of the fitbits is winning, Looking at the Band 2 more, i have found out the batteries are not replaceable and will only take 1000 recharges, battery on normal (ie NON GPS) should last 48 hours, so even without using GPS and using it daily, it will only work for 5 years, now you would probably bin it by then anyway, however i would expect at least daily charging if you actually use the features its designed for! So I would estimate a life span of 2 to 2.5 years. not good enough for me with a price tag of 200 quid.

Did you buy one in the end. I am looking at the Fitbit Charge HR and Surge or the Jawbone UP3 but not made a decision yet. Sadly no real deals about at the moment except on the Surge (still £149.00) so want to be sure of what I am getting before I splash the cash. Wish I had seen the Charge HR when it was £69.00 instead of £89.00 like it is now.

I bought the wife a HR one for Xmas - it seems to be very good , all synced up to her phone and the i pad - seems to be doing everything she wants it to do

I'll throw the Garmin vivoactive into the mix.

Does everthing a fitbit does (had one prior) but a little more. It even has the golf mode (more functions than an s1)

imuse mine for everyday steps, running, swimming and golf.

Battery lasts 7days (dependant on gps usage)

Daft question, When you say you use it for swimming, is that purely as a stopwatch or does it do HR as well?

Sorry assumed it was GPS, here's the info of the garmin website for the swimming app.

Dive In

Auto Length accelerometer-based technology automatically gauges total and interval distance; laps; calories burned; session average, interval and length pace; and stroke count, including number of strokes per length and interval and session averages. Let the swimming app calculate your efficiency with swolf, which adds the time and the number of strokes it takes to swim a pool length. View your time and interval distance at a glance. Interval Count lets you seamlessly pause and then resume your workout.

The thin profile cuts through the water, and its 5 ATM water rating means you can swim, sweat and shower with it on, worry-free
