So my first experience of Texas scramble today. Played the Melbourne masters at brocket hall in Hertfordshire. Great format, our team ended up with a gross 10 under 62 and could have easily been 59 if the putters hadn't gone cold and finished with 4 pars. We won by 2 shots to top it off. Won on the par 5's with 3 birdies and an eagle.

Also great first outing with the G20 driver. Never driven so well, used it on every par 4 and 5 and hit 12 out of 14 fairways. 5 yards short of longest drive too which would have netted me a brand new 913 driver.

Cheers. Yeah, loved the format, proper good laugh. Took us almost 5 hours as we were held up on a few holes due to shotgun start but certainly want to play the format again. Lovely course too, great condition considering the weather they have had there lately.

Well done,Texas Scrambles are a change from the normal medal stroke play. Last year 4 of the guys in the squad I play in won 3 and were 2nd in 2 ,so a few vouchers picked up there, there handicaps were 3,4,5&5.

Well done on the win Jon.

I enjoy a scramble every now and then. We have 2 or 3 a year and I think that's about right.

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that the guy that gets the best out of his own driver on the day wins a new driver?

Out of interest, was there any problem with your unofficial handicap?

We have an annual open charity texas scramble and find it difficult to know what to do with unofficial handicaps.

Well done Jon.

We had a scramble yesterday and we finished with a nett 62 1/8th and came nowhere near the top 4! Proper bandits out there yesterday although the teams were drawn so can't complain, well yes you can ;)

Yeah we did say that to ourselves after. I measured this guys drive using my Garmin and it was 282 yards so I'd say whatever driver he had already was doing him just fine.

No mate, they didn't ask for any proof of our handicaps. We had my 16 and the others in my team were off 10, 12 and 15. Last year between them 3 they played no more than 10 rounds so we were well chuffed.
