Im going to play my first round tomorrow...... ON MY OWN! I have never taken part in a round of golf on my own, in three years of playing! Im a little scared to be honest! Ahhhhh! What can I expect, and how can I enjoy my round tomorrow??

Several questions. Why are you playing on your own. Can't you get a game at the club or asked to be paired up. Much more fun. What are you worried about? I assume you've played a full round before in the three years you've been playing

I play on my own as often if not more than in company and really enjoy it. I confess to chatting to myself out loud much of the time!! It's good practice time as I'll chuck a couple of balls down if no-one is behind me.

Enjoy.

I play a fair few rounds on my own at my home club just practicing and its enjoyable. I play a couple of balls and play a few more from certain spots around each hole if its quiet. If any group gets up behind i just let them through and carry on playing each hole until im happy.

Its a municipal course, im a student. Cant afford top courses i'm afraid! The two lads I usually play with work full time, so its weekend gol for them only, and my Dad is a weekend golfer too, but I just fancy a game tomorrow!

Peace and quiet. You against the course. Nothing wrong with that....do it regularly as I am not a member anywhere and only know 3 or 4 people that play.

My only advice would be not to go at peak time. Can get a bit frustrating and hard to focus if you are constantly overtaking groups.

I am aiming to tee off around 10AM (ish), as this is when the dry weather is scheduled for tomorrow! haha! I am happy to pair up with anybody, if there are other golfers free tomorrow!

Your Municipals cant be very busy! - My local course at Sherdley Park used to pair up two balls so that every group going out was a fourball!

And when I used to Play Allerton, you couldnt get on the 18 hole as a single they would want you to pair up, not played there for a while but from driving past its still busy

Our courses can be busy at times, but during the week, it tends to be the older generation of golfers that are out there! Infact, I wouldnt mind playing the game with some fine gentlemen!!

I have turned up a few time to play on my own and always found someone to play with. If you do end up alone dont look up to early to see where your ball has gone.

Playing on your own is not something that everyone enjoys....I really like it, provided the course is empty. If you are in a bunker chuck in the four balls and hit all of them. Not happy with the approach, hit another one.

However remember - NO GIMMIES you learn nothing from this.

Don't forget to play your opponent for 10 pounds a hole.

I used to play on my own quite a bit, but haven't really had a chance to get out on the course unless it's a comp. going to be playing evenings more regularly to get better so may pop out on my own for a few holes after work.

I find playing alone quite therapeutic with the exception of one session where I had two dithering 4 balls infront of me (one big group of mates).

I often play 3 balls at once but always score with my 1st ball regardless of how much better my other shots are.
Playing alone was actually my reason for joining my local club. I'm able to do pretty much what ever hours I want in the office so I often start at 4am and leave work at noon to be on the course by 12.45

I'm pretty fortunate that my club seems to be quite during the weekday afternoons.
I've never done 18 holes alone yet. I mainly do the first 6 holes (with 3 balls) or if there are other people about I play the front 9 with 1 ball.

Once I'm feeling more confident in a crowd I will start playing in the members role up.
Bad weather also hammers my game as my back just gets too stiff and painful. My Pro is always amazed at the difference in my game/swing when it is warm & sunny.

I definitely think playing alone has improved my game.

Ahh my local hacking ground too. Watch out if you're playing the 10th at about 11am on Sunday - a sliced first shot may be coming your way.

I quite often get out early on a sat am when there's no comp can be back home for 10 to have time with the 3 year old and keep HID happy (ish) whilst still getting my fix.

Hope you get to play in the dry and maybe even get a game this morning enjoy!
