Well, i've finally bitten the bullet and I am going to play my first medal. Teeing off at 1.45 with two guys i've never met before, so i'm a little nervous!
As a relative newcomer to the game, what can I expect? I'm not really all that clued up on signing scorecards and such, so hope I don't duff it up and make a pillock of myself:o
Think I might get there an hour early and practice some putting and hit some irons in the nets.

Well done! First hurdle was entering, get there early, relax, have a warm up and smash it down the first! Just play your own game, don't worry about your playing partners.

Don't worry about messing score cards up, advise your partners your new and if they are decent chaps they will guide you right, don't let nerves get to you, it's just 18 holes of golf

I'd personally forget its a comp, but use it as a way of meeting new people within the club

Cheers, that's a good way to think about it.

I would just check your notice board to see if a lift, clean and replace rule or any winter rules are in place due to the weather.

And if you have any doubt ask.

Enjoy it shanks

Relax and enjoy, I'm sure the two guys you are playing with will help and guide you throughout the round.

Just a few simple basics to remember........

Don't talk when others are playing
Don't walk on peoples lines
Dont stand in peoples eyeline
Don't play out of turn.

All simple basic stuff, stick to the above and I'm sure you will get invited back to play with them again. And just remember, we play golf for FUN

As of yesterday there wasn't. Our course is in tip-top shape as we haven't had much rain and it drains really well anyway.

Cheers, I think what you mentioned above goes without saying, I try to be very respectful when it comes to ettiquette on the course. I know we play for fun, but sometimes it feels like torture lol!
