Cleeve Hill, Cheltenham with a couple of college mates in the early 80s. The course holds another memory as I proposed to my wife near the 17th tee (trig point for the highest peak in Gloucestershire).

I have no idea, I could probably narrow it to sometime in the late 80's and to one of three courses but couldn't even tell you if I played as a single or with someone else

Goldenhill golf course would be about 1987 bobbed off school if I remember rightly and jumped on the 6th by the old train tracks

Ballymena Golf Club with my brother over twenty years ago. All the distances were in metres which I still don’t understand.

Sometime in July 1993 with my Dad, at his course Gillingham Golf Club when it was the long course before they changed layouts for a new road that went in.
Nah, Gillingham has never been long, even before they rejigged the course for the new bypass and taking some of the Langton playing fields for some new holes. (My junior school used Langton p f for our gams and sports days.)

My first full course would have been New Addington,

Whinhill Golf Course, above Greenock in the early 90s.
My Dad took me and my brother up. My Dad wasn't a golfer and borrowed a set of clubs simply to let me and my bro have a go.
I kinda remember him cutting this old driver off the 1st tee and it probably bouncing 150 yards or so down and thinking he had hit it a mile.
We obviously couldn't play and we probably had to let guys through every other hole.

Whinhill is a formidable moorland course with a burn on just about every hole.
That said, I'd like to go back now that I've been a regular player for a few years. .

Pretty decent layout is Whinhill.

Played a lot worse.

Queens Park in Crewe sometime at the end of October 1993 - their rules minimum age was 11 so we waited till I till my birthday and, of course, I was far from the youngest person on the course!
Played that course with some lads who I worked with on Bentley few years ago

Waterbeach GC with a mate from work , used a pair of cricket shoes for spikes

Same here, but it was a cricket club Jolly.

Aldwickbury in Harpenden 2006, borrowed set of clubs and half a dozen balls, which i lost all but one. never played or hit a ball before that day..... Hooked from then on

Around 1986, started on the range at Silvermere long before it looked anything like it does now, then first playing on the 9 hole at Windlesham. We soon upgraded to the 9 hole at St Georges Hill, which became our staple Saturday. Now one of the loops (green?) on the main course, but back in the day, the 9 hole was open to anyone, just drop £4 through the pro shop letterbox and fill your boots for the day, two tees on each hole. Halcyon days.

First 'proper' courses I can remember playing were Warley Woods (near B'ham) and Meole Brace (near Shrewsbury), both municipals.

ThIs was as a teenager with my best mate and his old man. Very fond memories :)

Bowenhurst near Fleet in Hants. It's a budget 9 hole, 5 ball groups sharing clubs, wearing ripped jeans & Stella cans floating in flooded bunkers!

My first full course would have been New Addington,
Compared to what the course is now it was longer, less par 3s and more par 4s that were tighter driving holes.
