Firestone - what's the fuss?

Maybe I'm missing something, but every time I see this course/tournament I am always left feeling the same - meh.

And why do they go on about it being a 'great course' and 'so hard'? What isn't coming across on TV? As far as I can see, it always looks like 18 almost dead straight holes with little of interest or obvious challenge.

What's the big deal? Someone tell me!

Oh, and ban the anchored putting stroke please...

I agree, apart from how narrow the fairways appear, it seems pretty bland. Not seen a dog leg, a par 3 from height or a raised green, nothing but straight holes

I completely agree, never got all the fuss myself!

However, we both could be completely missing the trick…

It seems that as we are both Newcastle footie fans, we are sometimes known to be misguided

Firestone is normally baked hard at this time of year.To be honest the course this week has played very tame.

I was thinking the same. Course looks like it was designed by a 3 year old from the aerial shots.

I think some of them greens are tricky, especially due to the heat. But that doesn't always come across on TV.

Fully agree nearly all the holes look the same. Even the water on the 16th stops anyone, apart from Bubba, going for the green in two.
