Finally......

Had a look at the course on the internet and judging by the length and how wide open it looks, I'm going to say most people should be able to get around this course a few shots under their handicap at least. So Smffy will shoot 90... :D

I can see why you jocks got gifted tartan now.
It replaces a sense of humour
;)

got my name down for a qualifier at "Ye Olde Boars Head" GC next Sunday.
Monthly medal.

Just realised how appropriate the name of your new course is Rob.

:) :) :) :)
A more appropriate course name for Smiffy sounds very similar to this. T'would be "Ye Olde Whores Bed"! ;)

85, Smiffy!

brutal and Sussex countryside hardly go together - soft rolling, downland perhaps.

I think you're going to embarrass yourself and earn the title of bandito magnifico.

- nett 3 under.

Well it was interesting to see my new course, if nothing else!!
There are two or three really good holes on there, unfortunately it was a bit boggy in places to really appreciate it, and boy did the wind blow!
Shot 41 on the front nine, 6 over and playing to my handicap despite a horrible double bogey on the par 3 4th. I parred it second time round so I got my revenge.
Things continued along these lines and I stood on the 16th tee (par 4 SI1) still "level 2's" and playing to my handicap.
Now the first time I had played this hole I parred it and had walked off the green saying to my playing partner how I couldn't understand how it was SI 1 as I had literally hit a "so so" drive and a flicked 9 iron. There had been much tougher holes out there, in fact the preceding par 4 had taken a 3 wood 2nd shot to get anywhere near the green.
Those words came back to haunt me as I totally cocked up off the tee, and scabbed my way down the hole to a very ugly 7, which was very nearly an 8.
Followed this up with a stupid 3 putt double bogey on 17 and a messed up 18th (bogey) to finish with an 87, nett 75.
The damage had been done on the 16th and 17th holes.
Bearing in mind the conditions out there today, an 82 would have been a real achievement, bearing in mind I hadn't clapped eyes on the course before.
So I'm reasonably happy.
Don't know what the SSS was today, the weather must have put it out a bit. Have to wait and see the results on HowdidIdo.
So whoever guessed 87 let me have your details and I'll send you that little pressie.

;) ;) ;)

87?

How did I get that right?

What was the lost ball count? :D :D

Didn't lose one Rog.
Had to hit a provisional at the aformentioned 16th, but the ball had gone through the hedge I hit, rather than stuck in it.
Still cocked it up from there though. Where the hell did a 7 come from on that tiddler???

I'll bring yer pressie with me next time we meet up mate. Remind me.
Got that entry form signed by the way, it'll be posted off first thing tomorrow morning.
;)
