Well just back after our Monthly Medal and i suppose i didnt give too bad of an account of myself.......Shot 84 for a nett 70 in stupid strong winds.....I might even get a small cut as i think that the CSS may go up to 72.......

I think if had of played today with my old swing before the lessons i would have struggled to not break 100.....
It was impossible to club......A few stray tee shots in the last 1/3 of the course messed up a card that would otherwise have been very good for the weather......

At the turn i was 5 over gross.....Flying......Had Pars on 10 and 11 doubled our Par 5 12th after a great tee shot and a great 5 iron to leave a wedge in for the 3rd...... Dont ask...

2 doubles after that on 14 and 15 and a great scrambled par on our par 5 16th..... A bogie on 17 and home with a Par...Not too shoddy...All in all happy out with my play in the conditions that were there.....Force 5 wind speed....

Nicely done.... I shot 88 for a net level par 71. SS was 72, so down to 16.5. Was hoping for SS to be 73 as weather wasn't great. Am happy, but still thinking about the 5 or so shots I left out there due to a lousy short game!!! Makes you think about the hours you spend on the range hitting full iron/driver shots when it was the 40/50 yard pitches that cost me!

Well played.

Played yesterday in a stableford comp. Started well and had a steady front 9 getting 16 points with one blob. Started the back 9 very well with 2,3,2,3,2 points so made up the difference. Then everything was getting very wet from the constant steady rain since the start of the round. Even with wet gloves on my clubs started to slip pretty badly so blobbed the 15th but hit the a nice par for 3 points on the 16th so still in it.

I was really struggling with the driver as it has a great grip in dry weather but it's close to useless in the wet. Dried off the grip, dried off my hands but still hit a slight slice into the trees but had a good lie and punched one down the fairway. Third shot stayed dead straight ignoring the wind and went into the trees so ended up blobbing that hole.

Knowing everyone was struggling I knew a par on the last would give me a shot at winning. Drive was a little left and only had a low punch to get out. Then squirted one off the face into the bunker. Now as has been discussed on here before our bunkers are normally hard and stoney, well this had been mentioned by several (all) members and the club had ordered several tonnes of sand and put it in the bunkers. Lets just say I didn't get out of the bunker as well as I normally do!

Even though I know I threw it away on the last 4 holes I was still happy with the way I played and how well I got on with the new driver. I am, however, ordering a complete set of grips for the whole set so I have half a chance of hanging on to my clubs when the weather isn't at it's best!

Had an absolute mare, shot my worst round for over a year with 88 gross for a nett 82 in first 18 of a 36 hole comp. Guy off 26 playing with me had nett 74 ( thankfully he was in the extra medal not the 36 holer )

To a point i would agree Karl....Well 90% of me agrees but you need to be pretty steady off the tee too which i wasnt before the lessons....Now im much more confident standing there knowing what my ball will do roughly 9 out of 10 times......

I had 2 bad drives this morning which cost me double bogies on the holes i took them on....

Par of the round for me was a drive on our Par 5 16th 430 mtrs with the wind helping..... Left with 150mtrs to the middle i pulled 8 iron......Airmailed the green and Pitched on the tee box of our 17th Par 3 and ran into the long grass at the opposite side...Chopped out to the edge of the green where i couldnt see the flag as i was well below it....2 putted for my Par......Crazy Game..:whoo:

I didn't

Went for an impromptu 18. Course was heaving. Couple that with being stuck behind the slowest 3 ball on, literally, evey shot was no fun.

Waited on the 1st tee and fairway, 2nd tee and fairway, 3rd tee and fairway....... You get the idea :(

After it took the nearly 10 minutes (... True story) to putt out on the 4th green (Par 3), I played out the hole and walked in.

Spent about 2 hours on the short game practice area working on a few bits.

Had an interesting 9 holes yesterday, but all in all, not to impressed with today's hold ups.

Tell us The Story Gar.

9 holes and NR'd as did the rest of the fourball as we got drenched. Sun splitting the heavens beforehand during an hours pitching practice but as soon as we tee'd off, it began lashing it down and wasnt enjoyable at all. Several fourballs did exactly the same as us. We normally book around 11am to play but managed to cock it up and went out at 2.45pm. Had we went out earlier wed have been grand. Typical., easiest .1 ever...

Missed the money(top 3) by half a shot but picked up a few quid for a 2. Picked up money 5 out of 6 weekends, so well chuffed with my game at present.

87 yesterday which was ok considering I had 3 double bogeys and a horrible triple on the last.

Only the second full round of the year though and an improvement over last weeks poor 92

Chopped it like a high capper lol, was a strong wind and some pretty scrubby lies after heavy rains last night but not to blame for some of the shots I hit today lol, Ill take the 0.1 as it was more than earnt

How did I get on! I walked off the course after 10holes!

Had a very bad 1st hole which I doubled, then scraped a bogey at the 2nd but despite that wasnt to worried. Then hit my best drive in a long while measure it out at 270yards big help from a huge wind though put my approach stiff so was happy with that but then it began the waiting that is!

Our par 3, 4th hole is only about 135yards from the whites but we waited on the tee for 20mins. Then once we played the hole we waited on the 5th tee for 20mins! Hit a decent tee shot leaving me a shot at the par 5 green in 2 but that meant waiting for the group in to play their 3rd shots and to putt out so instead of holding up those behind I laid up but then still had to wait for them to putt out.

By the time we got to the 8th tee it had taken 2 &1/2 hours and they hadn't yet tee'd off! Both myself and one of the old boys I was playing with had a word about pace of play and being called through which fell on death ears, they ignored us tee'd off and proceeded to play at a snails pace! By the time we got to the 10th green which is the nearest point to our car park it had taken 3hours 40mins! Faced with a tee shot at 11 which takes you out again toward the far end of the course, I decided to put my ball away said my polite I'm sorry and goodbye to the other 3 in my group as I couldn't far it taking 6hours to play a medal!

I was actually level to handicap when I walked! But I'd rather have the 0.1 back than have to take that long for a round of golf!

Ours was a greensomes board comp but the above covers it nicely, some flashes of class but 90% gash.

We scabbed it round to 30 points, winners were only 35. Wind was 3 clubs going into it, and after a solid day of rain some bright spark stuck us off the blocks

Wow and I was moaning about 4hrs 20 for 18 at ours today lol

I was clean shaven and dark haired when we tee'd off, I've now got a grisly Adams & silver streaks. Never played such a long drawn out painful game. If I had been playing poorly I'd have considered topping myself couldn't bare playing crap at that pace!

we lost in the final of the CBL Winter Knockout today. 6 pairings, 3 playing at home and 3 away. We won 2 of the home matches but crucially lost one. The away team lost 2/12 to 1/2.

We won our match 2 up in one of the best matches I've been involved in a long time. All square after 16, we won the last 2 holes to close it out.

Always disappointing to lose in a final, but we had a good run.

I feel for you, slow play is the worst thing going about this great game we love (im not talking about racing around but not having to wait on every shot). It got bad at our place about 18 months ago, was getting close to 5hrs some medal days. I wrote a letter with some recommendations as did a few others and thankfully they have implemented some changes and now aim for 4hrs on a medal day, considering i was in one of the last groups and conditions were tough then its not too bad i guess, at least they are actively trying to change things based on some sensible recommendations rather than the previous attitude of its a medal, it takes as long as it takes (which i fear may be the situ you are faced with)
