After all my woes through the winter and agreeing with my coach we were going to abandon the swing re-build I've been trying to get my old swing back for the past 2 months. Without much success I might add .

After shooting 97 in a medal on Sunday and getting about a 10th consecutive .1 back, I was at an all time low.

My biggest problem is I keep coming over the top and all the fixes and drills we have tried haven't had any effect. I just get the club to the top, in a good position, and my arms and upper body just take over. No matter how hard I try to stop them, resulting in a pull slice\fade. Which in the past I've been able to control, but not any more.

I went up the range Monday and just concentrated on taking the club to the top and then start the down swing by turning my left hip back and out the way. Something I've been trying to do for ages. And out of nowhere it started to work, turn hips, turn body and let the arms come through. Now the club is starting to come more from the inside and less over the top. Easy. 6 months I've been trying to do that and then it suddenly clicks.

So big step forward but the club was still coming from the outside a bit.

Decided to go see my pro for the first time in 2 months to show him the progress. He's obviously pleased I'm now going in the right direction.

He could also see the club still coming from the outside a bit. He asked me which hand do I think has most involvement in my swing. Left definitely for me. That's the problem then, it's too dominant. I'm driving the club forward with my left arm, so it's getting to far out in front of me.

He got me taking swings with just my right hand on the club and it was coming in lovely from the inside.

I'd do two 1 handed practice swings to get the feeling then hit one with both hands and boy what a difference.

Everything has just clicked into place. I'm now hitting a lovely soft draw, about 1-2 yards, with my 7i. And consistent. I must have dropped 7-8 consecutive balls within 5 yards of each other.

The swing just feels right. Balanced, powerful, easy. Effortless almost.

I'm sitting here now with the biggest grin I've had on my face for ages and finally looking forward to playing again.

Happy days and roll on the next comp. :whoo:

Nice 1, pleased for you fella.

I had kind of the same issues a few years back when I suddenly couldnt hit a damn thing, went to the range 1 day and something just felt different but I got my mojo back....its a lovely feeling when you can hit the ball with confidence again!

Nice story and great news, I love that grin. I used to come over the top and it took me more like a year to get rid of it.

Enjoy
