Moana 2, a lovely Christmas eve film. Similar story to the last, don't change a winning formula, but with some new characters. Gentle stuff, all very pleasant and enjoyable. Songs not as good as the first but that isn't unexpected.

If you have young kids, take them. If you don't, and liked the first one, go yourself 👍

Did a Top Gun double-header yesterday.
Original - best film of the 80s - just epic music, action, quotes the lot.
Maverick - total CGI rubbish and completely unrealistic. Shame as the story and flashbacks were really good but the script was so predictable.

Watched a couple of films to avoid the Gavin & Stacey hype.

65. Quite enjoyed that.

Quiet Place Day One. I think it was good but need to go back and rewatch some parts as I was asleep 😴 😂. Best aliens ever created.

The Six Triple Eight on Netflix, really good watch, loved the catch up bit at the end and to see them getting the recognition they deserved.

Yesterday I watched COUP! (sky)

Something very different to the normal fare

Described as a dark comedy but a bit more thought provoking than.

Why is it in every film, whenever a bad guy is shot, they always die instantly.
Or whenver a bad guy is shot and falls off something high, they never die instantly but always utter a long scream as they fall?
Or whenever a good guy is shot, they always survive long enough to say something important or relevant.

Watched Threads on iPlayer. And I can’t unwatch it.

Made in 1984 based in Sheffield (script by Barry Hines…of Kes and other gritty northern novels). A no-holds docu-film about the build up to and subsequently the impact of a US/Russia nuclear war (with UK in the firing line) on the people of the city. It was banned/dropped by the BBC (even though BBC partly funded it) after one showing as it was just too realistic, gruesome and dark, with no happy endings or uplifting moments - just horrendously bleak and hope-less. As things almost certainly would be.
We were pretty much made to watch it at school in the mid-80s. 40 years later and I can still remember how harrowing it was.

MrsA and I, a couple of 50-somethings, just watched Red One on Amazon Prime.
I'm a cynical guy. I don't like christmas films, family films or children's films. I thought this was brilliant. I'm already looking forward to watching again next year.

We watched the first 5mins or so at which point my Mrs decided it looked like typical US made for TV rubbish and switched off it was. But I’m going back…

I watched A Quiet Place Day One

"Not another one" was my initial thoughts before going ahead and glad I watched it.

Very different from the others and a good watch despite some 'stupid' moments.
