After the top 5 movies thread, how about listing the films or series of films which you never quite understood why the made the money they did.

Ill start.
Harry Potter: Grown men wanting to watch this????
Lord of the rings: Again, grown men?
Shawshank Redemption: Was never able to make myself watch the whole film.

Agree on the whole Twilight thing, whne I see a vampire film I have certain expectations and 'chick flick' is not on of them.

Harry Potter. - Tosh for kids.
LOTR - Impressive cinematography, but apart from that, once you have seen one, you've seen all 3.
Die Hard series. - Mindless drivel for those without brains.
Terminator series - " " " "
Bond,....James Bond. " " " "
- although it was good in a quirky kind of way back in the Connery/Moore days.

Twilight basically appeals to the teenagers need to never be like their parents, old. They long to be young forever something we have all lived through and at some stage we were drawn to this also. Lotr appeals to our sense of high adventure man against beast. Evil against good, the thought that whatever bad is in the world goodness will always prevail. Star trek calls to our sense of the unknown, the not knowing if we are alone in this universe and what we would do upon finding out we are not. God I'm good.

I can't be doing with any of the early James Bond stuff. However, I did enjoy Casino Royale.

Harry Potter makes total sense if you're 8-12 years old.

Never went for the Rocky films.

The Twilight films get utterly slated on imdb. Films that score 7-8 on imdb are usually *disappointing* so scores of 4 or 5 must be unimaginably bad.

Another that never bought into Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings and agree that Die Hards weren't great. I disagree about the Bonds though particularly with Roger Moore. They always seemed to have a feeling that were in on the joke and that they were playing a lot of it almost for laughs. SOme great lines and chases in them too

Bond for definite.

Any musical.

Any thing with Jim Carrey in it. He is just not funny. At all. Ever.

2001 space odessey. Wtf was going on. I have never seen it all, as I got bored with nothing happening. Marginally better than the pelican brief, which 3 times has sent me to sleep. My mate fell asleep in the cinema in front of it. Defo cure for insomnia.

Star Trek.
The fast and the furious. They just filmed Sutton on a Saturday night!
The Matrix. The first one was a good idea but the second and third were poor.
Me, myself and Irene. The worst film in the world, ever!
School of Rock. The second worst film in the world, ever!
King Kong. The third worst film in the world, ever!
