I agree, but I find all the latest bond films a bit boring tbh.

Agree. I nearly said Casino Royale. Read the book. Set in France in the 50's. Taught, dark, atmospheric, suspenseful, brilliant. Watched the film and switched off following a ridiculous chase scene involving a fuel tanker and a lot of big explosions at an American Airport.

Would love it if someone made a really "grown up" serious Bond film instead of the predictable formula they use now.

Rocky 2,3,4.......you get the drift.

I Am Legend.
I'd forgotten about that one. Utter, utter garbage.
It should have been called I Am Bellend ...................... that's how bad it was!

Recently I have watched the following which have all been poor;

the family (de Nero film, shocking and not funny)
rapture palooza (dreadful and not funny)
cloud atlas, I won't watch it again
The incredible burt wonderstone - Olivia Wilde is hot but she can't rescue this crap
Napoleon dynamite - why do people like it? I had to stop watching it, it was that bad
romeo & Juliet - with dicaprio - zzzz

On a different topic - films I know are crap but I actually like them

hot tub time machine
this is the end
pacific rim
the internship

I think the original idea of the OP was to find out which highly rated films left you cold. Many of those mentioned here I have either never heard of or could certainly not be classed as 'must see' such as Shawshank.

For my money Avatar has been the most overrated and overhyped film of the past 10 years - sentimental tripe.

Another vote for Avatar here not that it was a bad film but wasn't a great film. Basically Pocahontas with aliens. Visually though it was very good in 3D and I think this played a big part in peoples hype of it.

The Matrix

and anything else with Keanu Reeves in it

Skyfall - just about the worstest ever Bond film I've ever seen.

One of my presents from Mrs BiM was a book; 1001 films you must see before you die. Guess 2 of the must see films, there's a clue above.........

Just goes to prove the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure.

As I mentioned though, you should give the book a go. Written in 1954 it is very good and well ahead of its time. It was always gonna be difficult to make a decent film out of such a good piece of work.

Omega Man starring Charlton Heston is a earlier adaptation of the book. Not amazing, but certainly better than I am legend.
