Fighting on the Golf Course!

I've had many "snarls" on the course, but never got to the fisticuffs stage, but willing to on a few occasions, especially when playing the munis, but also on the private clubs.

As you get older you realise to handle it in different ways, although climbed in one divvy's face last year at our course, as said divvy (a member, I've since found out) hit a ball from 150 yards out to a par 5 we had only just walked off and was heading back to the tee which is next to the fairway just played. It missed 3 of us to the right at head height. I still give him down the banks, he threw his shoulders back, I took up the challenge, he soon backed down.

I'm not trying to sound hard, but we all make mistakes on courses, but people who don't apologise, or worse, play when they shouldn't be are asking for it.

Them balls are dangerous you know.

Lethal?

depends on the courses you play, the munis round Liverpool do tend to attract a few idiots.

I work on the basis that if they say they are going to do something (ie smash your face in) then they are weighing up their chances, the ones to worry about are those who act first,

Allerton was worst, as some drivable par 4's.

Not an animal lover, so happily hope the mutt has brain damage and is now viciously chewing on its owner.:D

Have you been hit on the head with a golf ball because you appear to be brain damaged.
There are plenty of animals/humans I don't particularly like...................but I don't wish them brain damage.

Craw, if the dog was tearing around between 140yds and 300yds from you, why didn't you just hit a few wedges whilst waiting for the (innocent) dog's incompetent handler to arrive and remove the dog, at which point you could have had a word with him?
Just a thought. Might have avoided a potentially ugly scene.

Slime.

The other week i was playing a friendly game with my brother when a dog ran onto the course..... quickly followed by its owner shouting after it.... Just as i was about to tee off the owner ran onto the fairway asking if i had seen his dog. My brother replied that he had seen one running about further up..... the guy left shouting after the dog! I subsequently duffed my tee shot (prob not his fault cos i seemed to forget how to swing for a few holes that day - but i am blaming him anyway ) Anyway this guy could not catch his dog and on the next hole he appeared again telling us he couldn't catch it.... i refrained from telling him he should have not let it off the lead or he should learn to control it etc etc...... but i am sure he was waiting for us to say "would you like us to help??"....... he stood there with that 'look' on his face....... lookly the dog appeared back on the hole behind so he ran off .....not sure if he ever caught it but not my problem !!!

Wasn't Benton by any chance!

Must admit i thought youd crowned the mutt with the club also ha ha ,if you did ,that would have been out of line , seeing as you didnt, it aint your fault its just an accident & the mutt shouldnt have been there ,

I do have a quiet chortle to my self at some of the "confrontation " comments when they sneak onto threads , i did martial arts for many years , have done door security for many years so quiet use to agression & confrontation , would deal with it on some level most weekends ,
different people deal with these in many different ways , just a thought tho before anyone on here decks anyone , be prepared for what comes after it , geting hurt is not great but heals in a while , courtcase over a couple of years & if convicted of assault there are countries you are not allowed in to, misplaced violence can have far more reaching consequences that can ruin your life..:sbox:

ive been in 1, should have been 2 but since i broke my wrist, and was boking and on the verge of passing out after falling avoiding a shot from the group behind i couldn't have a go at the fellas who just played through with no sorry or nothing

but the big one was... at my old club, the local rule for cutting in at the 10th to play the back 9 was, and i quote "if the group beind you on the 9th hole is on the tee side of the drain on the fairway you are clear to play from the 10th tee, if not you must wait to be waived on or wait for the group who have priority to pass" Fair do's, i religiously follow the ruls regardless which club im playing.

Anyways our 4 ball got to the 10th tee after completing the 9th hole, at the exact same time another golfer appeared on the tee, we offered to let him pass as he would be quicker, he said "no your ok lads, im with 3 others we are only playing 9, your all ready were not" so we play on, then 1 minute later we are 150 yard or so down the fairway, i hear driver being struck, thought nothing off it as you hear that all day on a course, then a ball comes wizzing past my head, bearing in mind im fresh off unjury from a broken wrist from the last weasel who couldnt wait, so we shout back, "excuse me, were on the fairway please watch" next thing another ball then another ball lands beside me and another player i look back to some ass hat shouting "take that you (Mod Edit)" so, in the heat of anger, which i dont do on a course i got my 6 iron out and hit the ball back at him, i missed him and hit his bag, i know i was in the wrong but i wa so angry and after letting 3 misses slide then him shouting that, he stormed down, got in my face and said (Mod Edit) pushed in front, our mate was up ahead of us to reserve the tee" we explained the rules, but as hes an ignorant visitor it was lost on him, the GM had to be called, they were kicked off as they apparently cause trouble everytime they are there, i got a slap on the wrist for my retaliation, which i deserved

(Mod Edit ...You also deserve the 3 point infraction for swearing I just gave you)
