Favourite Finishing Hole in Golf

finishing holes i don't think are that great are Woodhall Spa, Hankley and Camberley Heath.

I cannot agree with this as Hankley is one of my favourite 18th holes I have ever played. I also like the 18th at West Sussex and dare I say it, the Belfry! West Hill also has an excellent finishing hole.

Blackmoor is very good. A real sting in the tail with that second into it and the tricky nature of the green. Love the 18th on the Old at Sunningdale and enjoyed the 18th at Forest of Arden over the water

My reason for not thinking Hankley is a great hole is that i didnt think it was fair for shorter hitters.

It literally gives them no chance of getting on in two so i basically a par 5.

Im not saying it was a bad hole at all. Just not wowed by it.

As a short hitter I agree.;)

Blackmoor is a stunner. Love the view from the elevated tee. You can see the whole hole, including all the trouble. Huge oaks down the right, and huge heather bank down the left. Second shot into a very slopey green, with a huge pit on the right, and the clubhouse on the left. Not many courses have their signature hole as the 18th. Before the new clubhouse was built, the old one was even closer to the green, where the patio outside the pro shop is. Even scarier though it did stop balls going down into the car park more.

Carnoustie is a great hole, as well as West Hill.

Not keen finishing on a par three, which is one of the few bad points about The Berkshire Red. In my opinion the worst hole on the course.

For courses I've played there are a few aesthetically pleasing ones for me. Not necessarily the hardest finishin holes but for one's that nicely finish up the round.

Royal Liverpool (played in The Open layout, managed to play it the day after The Open, so playing into the stands was just unbelievable)
Gullane #1
Delamere Forest
Carden Park Cheshire course
Shaw Hill (going to be biased and throw my own club in, looks stunning on a summers evening especially from the whites with the old Georgian house framed by the trees behind the green)
La Manga West, North & South. All 3 layouts have great finishing holes.
& one that some on here may not like, but I love the place and it's finishing hole is a tough test...... The Brabazon at The Belfry.

St Pierre and it's a par 3.
par 4's
Royal Lytham, made a birdie
Royal Birkdale.
Old Course, just cos of the short 2nd shot and what your playing towards
Moortown I'll agree with.
Alwoodly, apparently. I didn't get to play it due to comp being cancelled mid way round.
Seacroft, tricky green.

Par 5
Woodhall Spa off the blue tees that you don't get to play from.

Probably the last at Dartmouth. Fantastic downhill Par 3. St Mellion, Nicklaus course, really tough par 4 finish, as is the last at St Enodoc. Hard to choose which is the best out of those 3 for me.

I like Blackmoor too, played it twice, parred it twice.
Had a couple birdies on the hole

Think everything about the hole is great , elevated tee , big rolling fairway , danger right by the green and the best green on the course

Yep, its a tough hole & I was v.happy to make par. I can't compete with Imurg's hole out into the terrace drain tho', one of golfs classic shots !!

PGA Sultan and Montgomerie Belek

PGA - cambered fairway, water on both sides, with water cutting across in front of green. A great finishing Par 4

Monty - The pros made it look easy at the Turkish, but great shape of hole. Finding drive best position brings trees into play. Risk & reward 2nd if your a bomber. More protected than it looks on TV with water again on left.
