How many of you guys are fast starters?

It tends to be the story of my rounds lately. I'll go for the best part of the front nine level par but then somewhere near the turn I'll start hitting shots I've never done before but only for a few holes.
I've developed a real pull if I try to take anything off the club, which means I have to hit the shorter club harder.
I don't think its because I've got a decent card in my hand. I'm a fairly relaxed person and a bit of pessimist when it comes my golf. (I tend not to add up my nines until I've walked off the 18th)

Could this just be a mental thing of relaxing too much after starting so well?

Could it just be a lack of concentration. Maybe you get hungry and that can sap the concentration levels

hadn't thought of this. I usually eat something at the half way hut. Last few weeks I've stopped due to the diet. I carry powerade instead but maybe that isnt enough. Might get some fruit flakes to eat on the way round.

Sometimes we don't concentrate on what we have been as the round is going well and relax too much, on the other side a bad front makes you concentrate more on the back and if the card is lost the pressure is lifted.

I get two shots at our first, third and fifth and I'm in a good run so recently I have been posting good numbers early doors.

Tend to start slowly on the front nine and finish even slower. In theory the front 9 at our place should be the easier but I never seem to play it very well and there are certain holes (3, 6, 7, 8) that are real bogey holes in comps. They shouldn't be (2 x par 3's in there) but no mater what positive thoughts I put in my mind the clubhead and ball don't listen

Slow and steady start for me.

Long par 5 straight into a tricky par 3 where it is easy to birdie yet easy to have a nightmare on if you miss th green.

Ash!!

I generally play my best on the back 9. I always warm up a lot, I also make more mistakes on the back 9 too due to overconfidence, impatience etc.

I shoot my best scores when I minimize the mistakes, regardless of what hole I am on.

I'm known for being the hare rather than the tortoise. For ages now, I tend to play the first three or four holes really well, and then it starts unravelling!

Once in a mixed match, I went birdie, birdie, birdie, par, to put us 3 up after 4! Think i felt embarrassed, so then went to pieces for a good few holes.

I never warm up, as I find that when I have, I've played worse.

I had a fairly fast (for me) start on Saturday. I was +1 after 3 when I started to think "ooh, I might have a good round today".

I carded a 9 on the 4th

Stupid bloody game...

i can be either a fast starter or slow starter, there seems to be no consistency there at all.

what is consistent is whichever way i start i tend to do the opposite later on in the round:mad:
