Never been a "Dedicated follower of Fashion"

I buy what I need when I need it. If it works it stays, if it doesn't it goes.

Clothes wise - I buy from any manufacturer that does Humongous as a size - I don't care if its in or not. To be honest I don't know (or care!) what's in or out. I wear what I feel comfy in.

I'm not a great fan of buying new clubs or shoes etc, but I do need some new shoes because mine have holes in them :D. But on the clothes front I do like to have a wide range of stuff to wear otherwise it becomes a bit of a drag if your wearing the same stuff week in week out.

I need to dress like a golfer in order to play golf. The number of time I have played in shorts in the summer and twatted it round like a chuffing tourist has made me realise that when I get my 'golf gear' on (Polo, nice jumper and smart troosers) I play to a higher standard.

I like bright colours and am still mourning the disintigration of my Green Tommy Hilfiger jumper.

So my next purchase will be a new one for the FoRyder Cup.

I also think that you can deck yourself out from places like Burtons, Asda and Tesco and still look as smart as the kn0b dressed head to toe in Boss.

at a certain level fashion doesn't work - essentially this is anything over stick insect. Poulter, Hilfigger, and others who seem to think £50 for a belt is reasonable will not see the inside of my wallet. (For £50 I want the cow!)

to date what I wear, other than an over abundance of winter gear, does not seem to impact on how I play, cr*p is!

my preference has always been to stick with the tried and tested basics; shades of black, blue, brown but I have noticed my golf shopping straying into strange territory of late - worrying. My son's Xmas gift is well to the farside.

Whilst I do not follow any fashions, my golf attire can be a bit variable, between dull and very lairy. Sometimes my sole wish whilst driving to the course is that I don't have to get out of the car, as explaining why I am wearing yellow and green diamond pattern trousers is going to take a while.

I don't have to have the latest gear, but I often end up with it.

That said, I am fighting the urge for a 909 driver, which I really don't need.

As I have said before, if I like it enough I will buy it. My golf gear stems, Galvin Green, Cross, Stromberg, Norman, M+S, Primark, Slaters etc etc. I have treated myself to a few pairs of "funky" trousers over the last two seasons however I also have two pairs of Primark chinos which cost me £12!!!!!!!

Everthing in my bag now works, I could do with a fairway wood or utility/rescue but I wont be replacing much in the next few years.

Usually its Sainsbury's chinos which are smart and comfy with a polo under a smart ashworth jumper. My shoes get replaced when worn or looking real tatty and my clubs get replaced when I and it/them have totally stopped working together after numerous attempts.

I'd rather spend the cash on something I needed rather than spend £60+ on a jumper or trousers by a label.

As an owner of 6 pairs of shoes, numerous stromberg trousers, adidas and callaway shirts, several cutter and buck jumpers and approximately 9 Royal Ascot jumpers in various colours I think I come under the fashion follower or should that be victim?

I like to feel (and look) the part and often feel self conscious and noticeable in shorts or old shirts and never play well unless I feel good

Looking the prat and feeling the prat is no different to going to work in jeans or a suit. It's a mind set.

Oops, just re-read.

Looking the part and feeling the part, that's better, is important. Middle aged men and shorts really don't work on the golf course.

I play with one chap who always looks a mess, even when he's trying to look smart, though I think he thinks he's trying, but he has no idea. Looking and being smart, isn't about how much you can spend, as pointed out elsewhere, but just taking some pride about how you look. Even if it does look rediculous.

I don't care if you show up looking like Ian Poulter, at least you've made the effort.

Occasionally I will be swayed by new stuff, but only when I like the look of it, or it grows on me & not because we're told to like it.

I always look for the bargains on the best looking clothes when I see them. And I know what I like.

Unfortunately what I like isn't always in my budget, so will have to stay on the rail on those occasions.

You'd think I'd have shares in TKMaxx, the amount of bargains golf clothes wise that I get from there.

For winter clothing, there is nothing to beat the £7-49 Dunlop chino's from Sportsworld imo. Hard wearing & you don't mind getting mud up them, as apposed to my usual favorites of Strombergs, that I've found out the hard way, some of their fabrics don't always clean well.

I have those chinos - good quality and superb value for the price!
