Fairways Hit!!!!!!!!!

.....
I hit my 5W very well (Carry 215mtrs) and my 3W (Carry 230-240mtrs)
.......

5w 236yds CARRY!!!
3w 253 - 264yds CARRY!!

I am so short...........

or realistic :p

Well Robo the Irons that im hitting into greens after my tee shots arent lying to me...No B.S. intended.
Im not boasting that i can hit a ball x x x Distance just stating a fact....Trust me ill take accuracy over distance any day....

Take our 1st for instance 329mtrs off whites (comp tees)
I hit a 5Wood and PW into the green... Wind and weather permitting that is. ;)

Just had a quick look at your course and the 1st hole is quite a dog leg isn't it?? Are you aware of how the holes are measured??

Sorry if you think I'm being sceptical but experience of "big hitting" 20 h'cappers makes me that way. ;)

I am aware how the holes are measured...Its not straight from tee to green im taking my measyrements from the 150 marker which im usually well inside....
I dont understand what this has to do with the distance i hit the ball.....
On another note why are you sceptical of a big hitting high handicap golfer?....We are around. But as i said in an earlier post id trade distance for accuracy all day long if i could...
You dont have to be in singles to hit the ball a long way....
And dont get me wrong here im not trying to start an argument here, ;) far from it im just looking for some input.

No JOUK...
Right handed normal grip.....

In that case you are PULLING them left... and/or blocking them right :)

Are they going straight left or do they also curve a little from right to left just to add to the pain?

Hi J,
Thanks for the heads up....Ya There straight left or pretty straight down the middle more often than not on the left side of the fairway.in the rough...And they can also curve to the left....Thats why im thinking maybe its compounded by the fact the driver is a draw biased club!!!! :D

Ok, one other question, forget the straight shot..... are you trying to move the ball from right to left or left to right?

I just get up and try hit the fairway...I have developed a habit of pulling my right foot back about 6-8 inches since i figured that this has helped me get rid of my slice.....

Is it possible that through playing x amount of rounds over the past 2 yrs that my swing my have settled and that i may no longer hit a slice if im standing square rather than closed to the target?
I also sorted my grip since as well i think both of these things have helped get rid of the slice....

Ok, Basically it seems that you try to aim right but then hit the ball across yourself.

Try this pull-fade.... if you're feeling brave/silly/rebellious etc... :p

Aim your feet, hips, shoulders etc square to the flag.

Aim the CLUBFACE at point A

When you hit the ball try and HIT IT TOWARDS point B, (further left than the clubface is aiming). This should give you the ball flight as shown on the right (starts left of the target towards point A and curves to the right landing on the flag).

If you slice it's either because the clubface is pointing too much AT THE FLAG and not at point A (in which case the ball would start at the flag and move further right finding the trees on the right)

OR

your point B is a little too much to the left (in which case the ball would start at point A but curve too much)

The closer you move your point B towards point A the less curve you will get.

You can experiment with the position of points A and B as you wish, to find something that suits your swing but the name of the game is to have the clubface pointing left of the target (point A) and the swingpath further left (point B) than where the clubface is pointing, thus imparting the required sidespin.

If necessary you can even cheat a little buy opening your stance a few degrees or moving the ball further forward.... but that's advanced stuff ;) LOL

I did this twice today and made birdie both times :)

Theoretically if you reverse everything I said (eg: swap the points to the right side of the green/fairway, move the ball back and close your stance a fraction) you'll hit a perfect push-draw that starts to the right and curves back in, but it's unlikely if you throw the club over the top (out-to-in) as you do and you'd need to practice getting the club to come to the ball from the inside.... yes, I know... too much information! :)

hope this helps..........
